  • Happy Canada Day!!! This photo was taken last year at the Canada House inside the Diaspora Village in Batroun Lebanon. I am so proud to call Canada my home, and I am so thankful to live in a place that accepted my wife and her family who, because of the war, had to leave their home and family behind to make a new life without the sounds of bombs and gunfire.

  • Exploring my hometown of @mission_bc for their upcoming virtual Canada Day celebration. I love being from this town. There are so many hidden gems but my favourite has always been Cascade Falls. My friends and used to come here every summer in high school to swim in the frigid glacier waters.

  • 🚨 GIVEAWAY CONTEST🚨
.
***CLOSED***
.
Congrats to @bijanzzz for being our lucky winner!

Thank you to everyone who participated! We had a lot of fun seeing all the tags, comments, shares and stories!

Stay connected for more giveaway contests in the future! *** I'm giving away to one lucky swimmer my two favourite training tools ...the @finisswim Alignment Board and Stability Snorkel Speed!

These two pieces of equipment are my two must haves in my equipment bag. The alignment board has been my essential teaching tool at our swim camps for over a decade and now it's an important tool for my every day training towards Tokyo 2021. Combine that with the most comfortable Snorkel on the market and you're really going to nail your body alignment! It's hands down the best snorkel I've ever used, with a solid piece construction that doesnt let the snorkel twist when you push off the walls and a curved mount that sits on your head perfectly.

  • First day back in the gym! Was a little bit nervous going because I wasnt sure what to expect. If it was packed we definitely would have left, but it was nearly empty and everyone was doing such a good job with social distancing and wiping down equipment.
.
Reminder for anyone starting back in the gym:
-Take it easy. Your muscles haven't worked like that in a while so you don't want to freak them out. Start light and go higher reps (ie: 12-15).
-Make sure you're hydrated BEFORE you go. With all the downtime it's easy to get dehydrated when you don't have workouts to remind you to do it, so to avoid any potential injuries, spasms, or light headedness, get plenty of hydration beforehand.
-Take time to warm up properly, and probably more than you're used to. Your body hasnt been moving the way it is used to and you'll be surprised and which parts of your body are more stiff than usual. Even a good scorpion stretch at the end of your warm up to get the spine moving is a good idea.
-Don't skip your stretch afterwards! Make sure you give enough time to get your stretch in. So if you're pressed for time, you're better off skipping that last exercise and stretch instead. -Sanitize everything BEFORE & AFTER!!! .

.
In times of uncertainty, the best thing you can do every day is sticking to your routines. Even though I am looking forward to being back at the pool training for Tokyo again, doing these morning lake swims twice a week has helped keep me moving towards, and I'm really enjoying it.
.
Special thank you to @blueseventy for the Helix wetsuit πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ
