  • 3 years since Grenfell and that feeling of hopelessness and pain hasn’t gone away. A tragedy that could have been avoided if the government listened to warnings from the residents. The painful reality is that the government care more about saving money, than saving lives. They still refuse to listen, missed the deadline to remove dangerous cladding from over 1,700 buildings but were quick to cover up and protect statues of racist figures. Their negligence resulted to what happened on the 14th of June 2017 and we can’t let this happen again, it shouldn’t even have happened in the first place. The conservatives being voted in again in Kengsinton and Chelsea was the biggest slap in the face, but justice will be served. We haven’t forgotten about those responsible, Gavin Barwell, Arconic, Celotex, Studio E and so many more that are yet to be held accountable. Keep applying pressure, link in @officialj4g bio to send an email to your MP.

The community may not be together today walking in solidarity, however, we still virtually there for each other. May Allah grant those who lost their lives eternal peace. May the survivors and loved ones be granted ease and justice and all be reunited in Jannah, Ameen.

Till we walk together again for justice💚

  • All the black squares have been posted, so what’s next. There are so many groups and organizations that after the media has moved on, will need our support. Whether that be through donating, volunteering, spreading their message online or starting up your own, it is time we take action and help in making a change. My non-Black people, we need this same energy around the protests and posts in your day to day lives. How will you implement what you have learnt to ensure the safety of Black people. You notice microaggressions towards a Black person at work? Speak up. You’re a teacher for a class mainly filled with Black students? Stop undermining and stereotyping them. Have a family member or friend who is racist? Educate them. There are many resources available so there is no excuse for ignorance at this point.
I’ve tagged some groups that we need to keep supporting, check them out.

  • We run together because we refuse to stand alone.

Honored to have ASRA feature alongside @rungrlco and @vashtizzle in the new @nike #BHM film focused on the common threads between black athletes around the world as we pursue collective progress. We share our stories to remember that have similar experiences and as a Black Muslim woman I am proud to share my journey starting ASRA with my amazing team.
We remind ourselves that together we are unstoppable. #UntilWeAllWin #BHM

  • I am so honored to have been a part of this BHM campaign. Despite ours being in October it shows that we should celebrate our history every month. Everyone who has been a part of the campaign has truly inspired me from in front and behind the scenes.🖤 Alhamdulillah always #UntilWeAllWin #BHM

  • Sport connects black people all over the world because drive and determination is embedded in everything that we do. It’s important that we come together globally to continue to support each other and build our respective communities.

This Black History Month, @nike celebrates Black athletes everywhere defining a collective legacy through the power of sport & culture, building a foundation for the next generation to move the world forward. Watch us Rise. #UntilWeAllWin #BHM
