  • Hi friends!
Last November amazing @murkanpianist invited me to participate in his amazing series #NSODeclassified. Playing at the Kennedy Center in DC with the National Symphony Orchestra was a dream come true! I met incredible arrangers and the wonderful tap dancer and choreographer @CalebTeicher *with whom I later collaborated on my Broadway residency! It was a wonderful and inspiring experience. In these days of missing playing shows, missing going to shows, and missing all the wonderful people and places that come with a life of touring and recording- it’s fun to know that they will broadcast that show again on Facebook. Tune in (Placing the link in Bio!) And since we’re talking about November and Washington DC- Let’s Vote and get some leadership that reflects our respect for each other, our awakening into a better future, our desire to heal what needs healing, and change what needs changing! Vote vote vote!!!
Sending everyone wishes of good health, happiness, peace and love!

  • Dear friends.
Wherever you are in the world- I hope you are safe. If you’re lonely- know that we are all connected with invisible threads and our hearts beat as one. Times like these just make it all clearer. If you feel offended because someone is speaking in a hateful way, or you feel blamed- know that most people realize this isn’t anyone’s fault. Most people are just hoping for the best. And probably need to be even more careful than they are, to achieve that best... If you think this isn’t real- or all a joke- or a conspiracy- think back on your life and try to remember when the world came together as one like this- begging people to keep their distance and to stay at home, to stay put as much as possible. I can’t think of a time. This is real and serious and we all participate in the balance of life and death of people we know, and of people we don’t know, might never know... We participate in it all with the choices we make. If you are stuck at home and going crazy from the quiet- reach out and listen out. If you are stuck at home and going crazy with the loud- listen inward. And of course- keep in mind these words are coming from a person who is herself at a loss, confused, trying not to panic, thinking in and out (and probably too much of both haha) and trying her best but often not even getting close... With all that’s going on- at least know that I hold some space for you in my heart. Some nice germ free space full of song and swirling feelings and probably a little tears and laughter just for you... it’s here in my heart whenever you need it and you’re welcome to it anytime!
With love and good wishes,
regina

  • ‪On this last of 8 nights of Chanukah, and as we begin to say goodbye to 2019, I ask for love, peace and a stop to the many hate crimes that have been happening to the Jewish people here and abroad... It’s a wish, a hope, a prayer... ‬

I remember arriving in the US as a child and thinking how amazing to be in a place where Jewish kids and grownups dress in yarmulkes/ kippas/ black hats/ head scarves/ all their religious clothes without being afraid. I had that pinch where my heart hurt in a beautiful way every time I saw a religious family dressed in their garb- all together. Free to celebrate, to practice. Those little gaggles of small boys in Kippas made my heart swell. And I’m still filled with gladness and gratitude when I see that... I am now also filled with worry. It doesn’t fit into my mind that someone would see a Jewish person- dressed in religious clothes, or maybe just wearing a Star of David, and want to do them harm. It’s really hard to imagine. And yet- today it’s heartbreak and suffering in Monsey, but everyday it is something horrible... I can’t believe that time is here again. And it came so quickly. In Europe, the UK, here... it’s just back.
I was just at Yad Vashem (@yadvashem) last month with two survivors of the Holocaust. We were just looking at the slogans, the smashed and burned Torah scrolls, the destroyed lives- the endless brutality and horror... And now I’m back in the US and everyday there are Jewish people being targeted and hurt and attacked. Communities afraid. I refuse to believe that it’s really back... I can’t accept it. We have to fight it. All together, with love and connection. We can’t be in denial about what is happening. It’s real, and it’s taking lives... In the 2nd photo is my graduating class from SAR in Riverdale, Bronx. That’s where my cousin Marsha and I were the first in many generations of our family to get a Jewish education. Not in secret. Not in fragments- free and open.

I treasure everything I learned, I’m grateful for the opportunity to know it. I will try and keep the lights lit in the upcoming new year. I really will. I know these will burn out, but mine won’t... 🕯

  • I love this time capsule! Time traveling with Fred is fun 🕯#elitehackers #whitegloves #smilingatNBC #tripsaroundthesun #tinyhistories *reposting from the one and only and brilliant @sordociego
Fred describes it all better- but the original little screen grab was from 2009 when I was the music guest on SNL and that room was my dressing room. Fred was doing these after show interviews in a super fun analog way and I did one with him! Then 10 years later I was on @latenightseth where Fred is MD of the band and he told me that the room still exists. We ran there for a sneaky re-enactment. Being sneaky with Fred is funny cause everyone knows him. I think he took more pictures with people but eventually we got our chance and @shervinfoto took the 2019 shot! Hugs and holiday cheer and fun being sent to you all 🎶❄️🦄🎄

  • UPDATE! Thanks so much for all the awesome remedies! ❤️ Happy Chanukah on this first day of the Festival of Lights! As it happens- I’m completely sick, and only by the grace of Chinese herbal medicine do I occasionally get the chance to breathe. Yet Chanukah is still fun- and I even cooked, somehow... If you have any remedies to share- I’ll try em! I’m desperately wishing to get out of this sick phase and into the humans world again... If you’re interested in my weird remedies so far I’ve done
- inhalations with essential oils
- a cut up onion and honey mixture thing (middle eastern cold killer- it didn’t take but I did grow to enjoy the weird taste, so now there’s that I have to deal with...)
-Endless cups of tea and soups
- vitamin C and D blitz - gargling with salt
-saline nasal spray
-musinex D and Claritin D -Eucalyptus bath
- oregano oil
-that awesome bottle of syrup I took a photo of (I recommend that- tastes good and helps me breathe....)
The list goes on, but I won’t bore you.
If you have remedies tried and true, I’m here and I’d love to know!
Wherever you are, and whatever your ability to smell things or not cough- I’m wishing you a wonderful holiday season- full of friends, cocktails, mocktails, fun, cheer, joy, freedom and laughter! Oh and tons of LOVE!
Your sneezy friend,
regina
