Ayrton Senna’s 1991 achievement of becoming the youngest ever three time F1 world champion is celebrated in this incredible bespoke McLaren Senna by MSO.
Details on the bespoke McLaren Senna include this engraving commemorating Ayrton Senna’s three world championship wins.
Inspired by the iconic McLaren MP4/6, this unique McLaren Senna created by MSO plays tribute to one of Ayrton Senna’s most legendary F1 cars.
The 1991 season which the MP4/6 raced in saw Ayrton win his first ever home GP in Brazil after years of trying. He had to be lifted from the car through sheer exhaustion as he’d been racing since lap 50 (out of 71) without 3rd and 5th gear, and by the end he only had 6th gear left.
Our #driveathome initiative continues this week with some stunning images from the @forzahorizonofficial community.

The McLaren F1’s iconic wheels were 17-inch diameter and made from magnesium alloy. MSO still has original spares. The tyres were bespoke, and today they must be ordered in batches of 50 sets or more. Not all of these are used within the six-year shelf life – their ready supply shows McLaren’s unwavering commitment to the F1
Wander through the stores at MSO and you’ll find racks of McLaren F1 fittings, screws, washers, rose joints, battery terminals and switches.
Then, occasionally, you come across a bigger box: take it off the shelf, slide out the unmarked inner packaging, and reveal an original brake caliper, exquisitely made and still gleaming after 25 years. Even in component form, the McLaren F1 still has the power to amaze
Mechanically, the McLaren F1 has proved incredibly robust, but some parts are ‘lifed’ (like the FIA-spec rubber fuel cell, which needs replacing every five years).
Other key components might be replaced during MSO rebuilds, like this anodised alloy suspension arm from an F1 GTR – brand new and made to the original specification and pattern
The McLaren F1 was the first ever carbon fibre road car, and MSO still has all of the original tooling to make new carbon panels if required. The MSO stores still hold a pair of original doors from the 1990s – raw, sculptural and astonishingly light to pick up
As well as original parts, MSO also offers a number of upgrades for the McLaren F1, including modern Xenon headlight units and this, the lightweight sports exhaust. Made from titanium (to a design derived from the F1 LM exhaust of 1995), they are created new, to order, and have proved incredibly popular with the F1’s enthusiastic owners
Famously, at the heart of the McLaren F1 was the 6.1-litre S70/2 BMW V12, producing 618bhp. MSO still has original spare engines, one of which is used as a loan motor, which means a customer in need of an engine rebuild can continue to drive their car
More than a quarter of a century on, many examples of the McLaren F1 remain in regular use, and McLaren Special Operations (MSO) continues to support owners with servicing, original parts and upgrades. This week we delve into the MSO stores to discover some of the rarest spares on the planet
The McLaren 765LT features McLaren’s shortest ever final drive ratio which makes for incredible in-gear acceleration. Couple this with 755bhp , this gives the McLaren 765LT the honour of being the most powerful Longtail ever
