In all seriousness gang, PLEASE wear a mask when you leave your home. This is not up for debate! Face coverings are the easiest defense we have at slowing down the spread of COVID-19. They substantially lower the risk of contracting the virus, and of giving it to others — and they look pretty cute too! 😏
It’s also a great way to support artists and crafters who are designing some really cool products!
⚡️CHALLENGE TIME ⚡️
Take a photo of yourself in your favorite face mask and tag #KBMaskChallenge and I will share some of my favorites! Get creative!
5 years ago today, I was given the constitutional right to marry the man I love. I admit, I still getting a little weepy reading the decision. 🌈
“No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.” -Anthony Kennedy, SCOTUS
This month, in particular, we celebrate the many contributions of Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPoC). I’ve complied a list of organizations that support QTPoC and I encourage you to check them out! Link in profile!
The right to bear arms 🐻
I think...I think my husband just tried parenting a bear. Meet Teddy Graham, our new neighborhood. Also, for all of those wondering, we have taken the bird feeder down. Thanks for the advice. This city kid’s on a real learning curve.

Forget the butterflies. I feel the whole zoo when I’m with him. 🦋
It’s @scottbix’s birthday today and I’m reminded again why I’m the luckiest guy in the world. Don’t know how I’d make it through this year without you. Love you, sweet boy! 😘
🌈 One of the things I’m asked most about in my DMs is if I have any advice on how to come out. In honor of Pride, I’m sharing five tips that helped me accept — and be proud of! — my sexuality. These are by no mean one-size-fits-all solutions and I recognize that as a cis-white male, I’ve been afforded privileges that are not necessarily available to everyone in the LGBTQ+ community. I can only speak to my own experience, but these are things I wish someone had told me when I was a gay kid growing up in the Midwest. 🌈
❤️1) COME OUT TO YOURSELF! It might seem small, but accepting yourself is by far the hardest and most important step you can take.
🧡2) MAKE SURE THAT YOU FEEL SAFE! There’s no denying that many people have negative experiences, so having a safety plan is crucial. If there’s ever any question, reach out to a professional. You can call or text the
@TrevorProject — a 24-hour lifeline that helps LGBTQ+ people in crisis.
💛3) COME OUT TO ONE PERSON! Find a friend, parent, sibling or teacher who you trust. Having even just one ally will make a world of difference.
💚4) IT’S NOT A RACE! Don’t feel the need to put a label on what you are. Even as you get older, your understanding of your gender identity and sexuality can change. Eventually you will find an identity that feels right.
💙5) START LIVING! Being honest and accepting of yourself is more than just lifting a burden — it’s putting on a suit of armor.
The LGBTQ+ community is NOT a monolith. If you are only following cis white gay men and women on Instagram, you’re only seeing a tiny sliver of queer culture — and siloing yourself from the unparalleled diversity of queer people. Here are nine incredible LGBTQ+ creators who have a different identity and experience than my own, and whose work I love. So head on over to their page, give them a follow and prepare to have your feed get a whole lot more beautiful!
Question of the Day⁉️ Who are your favorite Instagrammers who have a different identity than your own? What do you love about them and their feeds?
In this month of Pride, it is vital to support not only queer organizations, but organizations that specifically benefit Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPoC). QTPoC have been leading the fight for equality in the LGBTQ+ community since the beginning, but are often ignored or underrepresented by larger LGBTQ+ groups. I’ve compiled a list of organizations (link in profile!) that directly serve these communities, both for folks who might need them and for anyone who may want to support them. I’ve already donated to a couple of these this month and look forward to giving more. I encourage you to do the same!
Today would have been Breonna Taylor’s 27th birthday. She was a Black EMT who was shot at least eight times by police officers who forced their way into her home with a no-knock warrant, looking for someone who didn’t even live there. None of the officers were wearing body cameras and none have been charged. Using the hashtags #SayHerName and #BirthdayforBreonna are just the start. Go to the link in my profile for action items — petitions, fundraisers for her family, and where to send letters to politicians demanding justice for Breonna.
