Sometimes I forget how athletic @justinverlander is
I’m starting to believe I like this princess tent more than Vivi...
I don’t know what’s cooler: deadlifting 110lbs or my new @benbrunotraining sweatshirt?
Thank you to all of the Global Citizens who took action for Global Goal: Unite For Our Future. Together, we’re one-step closer to delivering COVID-19 solutions to everyone, everywhere. #GlobalGoalUnite
@justinverlander and I are so grateful to be able to donate to the Institute for Health Equity Research (IHER) launched by Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Their dedicated team will help save lives and work to close racial and social disparities, not just in the present, but for generations to come. Also, we are proud to partner with @CanadaGoose who is donating 20,000 scrubs to Mount Sinai New York to continue to protect the healthcare workers on the frontlines fighting this virus.
It has been well documented that COVID-19 has disproportionately affected minorities and low-income populations. There are several theories as to why this has been happening, which is why Mount Sinai has taken the next step by creating this dedicated research facility in order to produce long-term change. They are working to understand the effects of health issues, including COVID-19, affecting at-risk communities, specifically those that are non-white, low-income, immigrant, uninsured, and LGBTQ+ across all ages, genders, and abilities. The IHER team is dedicated to identifying problems and developing solutions to combat systemic healthcare disparities, as well as preparing the next generation to carry on these actions.
Thank you to all of the healthcare workers and researchers at Mount Sinai New York who are working tirelessly to make a positive difference for those in need. #covid19
Happy Father’s Day to my dad @uptonjefferson ! Thank you for the years of laughter, love, and wine! I love you!
Happy Father’s Day @justinverlander . I hope you feel every day how grateful we are for you and for all you do. Vivi is one lucky girl to have you! We love you so much!
28 reps with 28kg and I’ll probably be sore for 28days! Really felt my age here. @benbrunotraining feel free to skip my birthday gift next year!
This has been such a special birthday - any day surrounded by loved ones is amazing, and I’m so grateful for my friends and family who celebrated and sent in messages from afar! #28
Justin and I are proud to donate to the @naacp_ldf. They’re an organization that strives for racial justice by working to make structural changes to expand democracy and eliminate disparities through litigation, advocacy and public education. Taking the time to educate myself has been extremely enlightening and eye opening. Realizing that although many hearts are pure, the lack of understanding of white privilege is what continues to perpetuate this awful cycle of systemic racism.
I’ve realized that since I can’t draw on my own personal experiences, which no white person can, that taking the time to educate myself has been invaluable. I urge you to also listen to the experiences of others… research, read books, join lectures, take a virtual class, or utilize the millions of online resources that exist. I listened to a podcast where @rachel.cargle said education + empathy + action = allyship. Every piece of that puzzle is needed.
I am committed to taking those steps in my own life, and instilling them in my daughter’s life as well, and I hope that by using my platform to help spread the message it can encourage others to do the same. Thank you to the many organizations that are committed to advocating for change and the @naacp_ldf for all that you’re doing on a daily basis. #enoughisenough
