  • Earlier this month Senator María Elena Durazo (@mariaelenadurazoofficial) addressed California Latinas during our Latina Action Day Virtual Conference. Senator Durazo's talked about her perspective on the current state of California and addressed racism, COVID-19, and the digital divide in education.

Even though this year's event was virtual, we were floored by the amount of support and the amazing leaders who were able to join us. Thank you Senator Durazo, adelante todos juntos!

  • #TBT to #LatinaActionDay2019 when our HOPE Youth Leadership Program participants took on the capitol and advocated for bills that impacted Latina teen's access to health care and education! They also gave presentations about issues that impact their communities to a group of their peers, engaging one another on potential solutions to these pressing problems. ⁣
⁣
This year, our Latina Action Day conference went virtual but their advocacy continues with their upcoming State of Latina Teens youth town hall! From access to mental health care to college affordability, our youth participants will be informing us on the issues that are impacting Latina teens across the state, paying special attention to how the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing inequities. Join us on June 30th from 3:00-4:30pm for a virtual briefing about the State of Latina teens in California and support our #HYLP participants! • 17 Latinas have served as U.S. Representatives in all of American history. More than 200 white men serve as U.S. Representatives TODAY. • The #HLI2020 cohort went virtual this year, but this transition has not kept them from learning and engaging with powerful leaders across California. This weekend, they completed their 3rd session, where they got to hear insightful presentations from #CABudget & Policy Center, #Next10, and learn from policy advisors at the @CAGovernor’s office. We closed our day with inspiring remarks from @sensusanrubio. These times call for tremendous leadership, and these Latinas are leading the way in our state.
