The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can provide five meals for every one provided by the emergency food network in our state. GBFB is a SNAP outreach provider that helps people get access to this federal program.
Since the #COVID19 crisis began, our weekly # of SNAP client calls, referrals and applications completed by our staff has TRIPLED.

ICYMI: We've been working with @MIT_CSAIL and @avarobotics to put into use a robot that emits UV-C light to disinfect surfaces and neutralize airborne forms of the coronavirus in our warehouse. Here's an image of the custom robot up close!
MIT researchers estimate the robot would neutralize 90% of the coronavirus and it could potentially work in many other large spaces. #InThisTogether #Innovation

During Wednesday’s press conference, @massgovernor highlighted GBFB’s new partnership with @ymca_boston, @thembta & @cityofboston to address food insecurity in our region. GBFB COO Carol Tienken had the opportunity to speak. Many thanks to the YMCA for having us! #EndHungerHere #InThisTogether
Like most of our more than 500 partner hunger-relief agencies, the Medway Village Food Pantry has seen a surge in people seeking help due to the COVID-19 crisis.
The pantry typically averages 5-6 new families per month. Now, it’s about 5-6 new families per week! Check out our latest blog post to learn more (link in bio). #EndHungerHere #InThisTogether #foodpantry #volunteer
We had the opportunity to work with @mit_csail and @avarobotics to advance our sanitation techniques and help reduce the risks of COVID-19 exposure. The approach uses a custom UV-C light fixture designed at CSAIL that is integrated with Ava Robotics’ mobile robot base.
During tests, the robots covered our 4,000 sq. ft. warehouse in just half an hour. The UV-C dosage delivered during this time can neutralize approximately 90% of coronaviruses on surfaces. Visit MIT News to learn more about this innovative approach! #InThisTogether
When her husband lost his job during the 2008 financial crisis, Kelly turned to the Medway Village Food Pantry to help put healthy meals on the table for her family.
Today they use the pantry about once a week, but it's about more than just a place to get food for Kelly - it's a place where community can support each other. Read Kelly's full story on our blog (link in bio)! #foodpantry #InThisTogether #EndHungerHere
“That’s why we do what we do, because the need has only grown” - Cheryl Schondek, GBFB SVP of Food Acquisition.
Read @bostonherald’s recent piece on how even though the state is slowly reopening, we haven’t seen the volume of food we distribute decrease. #EndHungerHere #InThisTogether
