The more muscle you have in your arms, the less flabby that area will be but to some degree, gravity and skin elasticity are going to do their things - whether you can bench press your own weight or not. .

As we get older, our metabolism slows down and our production of hormones like growth hormone and testosterone starts to change, making it more likely for  women to gain more fat in these areas, they tend to be a problem area particularly in your late 40s.

While there's no immediate "cure" for bingo wings (is there one for anything?), there are things you can do to firm up your triceps (that's the muscle at the back of the upper arm), and reduce their appearance.

When my alarm went off I contemplated for a minute if I wanted to get up. Then I said out loud to myself “Emily stay committed” I’m glad I did! ☺️ Doing my workout early gets me started on a great path for the day and I feel much more productive. Give it a try! This will be fasted and after a coffee with some creatine.

Looking to stay in heart rate zone 2 or about 60-70% of mhr so my body becomes more efficient at burning fat 🔥

Today I did 40 lengths front crawl and 10 lengths breast stroke, felt really nice to be back in the pool! 🙂

  • Amazing scenery on this mornings run 🌿

Just over 12miles done in 2hrs 13mins which is a pretty good pace for me. Last Feb when I was gearing up for the marathon I did my first 12miles in 2hrs 33mins so a huge improvement on that 😆

Been reading and listening to podcasts on women’s health and making the most of our cycles and it’s starting to feel like it’s paying off as today was much stronger than I have been before.

Quick thanks to @drstacysims who wrote the book ROAR which has really changed how I think about “women’s problems” and fitness and food. @thefoodmedic who introduced me to Dr Sims on her podcast and @wellness_ed whose podcast Well Far kept me company for most of today!

  • Got myself a weekend workout buddy 🤼‍♀️ @izzyvoice can confirm this 600 reps sesh is a killer booty workout even without resistance 🍑🔥 We did 50 of each exercise but broke the sets up based on the difficulty of the exercise and took the breaks we needed!

💥50 x donkey kicks each leg

Sometimes we look in the mirror and might think ‘okkkkaayyyyy, I see you and all that work you’re doin 😍’ and other times we feel frumpy AF. Both are complete OKAY and absolutely NATURAL. ⁣

Our bodies change on the regular. Even within the same day. I could have put up that first pic with the attempt to give the impression that my stomach looks like that all the time- I’m here to tell ya, it sure as hell doesn’t 😂🤷🏼‍♀️⁣

As cool as that may be, I’ve had three kids, I don’t eat clean all the time, I drink the beer, and I live my life. I also, workout, eat well most of the time, and try to have balance. Because that’s what makes me happy. ⁣

If you are trying your best, making healthier choices, getting stronger, finding more energy in the choices you make, and helping yourself live longer by taking care of you, then what the hell does the mirror matter?! Keep doin you boo. Because you are crushing the things that matter. And also know that everyone has more to their truth than what you see in a picture. Stop comparing and thinking you ‘should be’ somewhere else based on what you see- because pictures are just pictures. At the end of the day, sustainable, healthy living is the ultimate goal. That’s it 👌🏼

  • 💘SELF LOVE💘

Before making this account, the little bit of bumpy pudge sticking out over the front of my shorts would have bothered me and I wouldn’t have posted this. I was always concerned about every photo looking absolutely perfect with no flaws. I was obsessed with how I looked and I always thought I had to look perfect and petite with no flaws or imperfections.

But now I’ve become so much more confident in myself that I love my little pudge on my sides. It’s a part of me and it’s who I am. I need to learn to love my imperfections and realise that it’s completely normal. 

Learning to love the certain parts of your body that you hate is the first step the fitness. If you hate your body, you’re more likely to get into unhealthy habits, like I did. 

Every body is beautiful in every way and those little niggly bits that you focus on are part of a big beautiful thing. 

It is so important to love yourself for who you are before you try to change it!!

LADIES... lifting weights will not make you look “bulky” , “manly” , look like the “hulk” .. it will actually do just the opposite! It will tighten, tone, help you burn more fat, & shape your body up just how you want! Of course how you fuel your body also plays a HUGE role as well & when you combine the two.. your body will THANK YOU!
