  • DELIVERY DURING COVID-19
.
The current state of the World sure can increase a pregnant Mama’s anxiety around their labor and delivery. I chose to lean into the resources that were available to me and be grateful for what I had rather than let the interruptions in my birth plan get the best of me.
.
I want to give a huge THANK YOU to the healthcare professionals and staff at @mpmfoundation and @womenscarefl for being so uplifting, energetic, informative, and simply overjoyed by the fact that I was bringing new life into this World.
.
In the way that Covid has brought our World much closer virtually, I experienced firsthand how joyous and connected healthcare professionals are inside a hospital setting during these times.
.
I delivered Madison almost 4 years ago and was able to follow my birth plan to a T. With this delivery, there were lots of hurdles in the way. However, it was by far my FAVORITE labor and delivery experience because of the support and attention Maci and I have been given here at the hospital.
.
If you are a pregnant Mama about to give birth amidst this pandemic, my advice is to LEAN INTO the good. Find the positive within your pandemic situation. We are all rooting for ya & your care team wants nothing more than the absolute best experience for you, more-so now than ever. You’ll feel that love and joyful connection when it’s your turn!!🥰

  • Tomorrow my little boy will be 3 weeks old!!! And while the first 12 days of his life was the most painful and heart breaking days of my life, to leave your child in the hospital and not knowing if and when they would be able to come home. This little boy is a miracle and so are these two amazing women, Dr. Gooden and Dr. Patrick. It is because of these two women I am alive and so is my little boy! I have been told by other doctors that they were shocked by the actions of these two women bc they aren’t certain they would have made the same call. Through out my pregnancy all my stats were great and normal. Most doctors would have just sent me home from my appointment but not Dr. Gooden she trusted her gut feeling and sent me to the hospital.
It was at the hospital I found out I was going to be induced. Everyone seemed certain that the delivery would be fine. Minutes before administering the medication to induce me, Dr. Patrick got a feeling that caused her to stop and make a call to do an emergency Csection . Again other doctors told me they would’ve gone through with the induction. It was while I was being rolled off to the operating room I had a placental abruption and my babies heart rate declined rapidly.
It was her trusting her gut and making the call that saved my little boy. Had I not been wheeled off at that moment, I wouldn’t be holding this little boy in my arms. I thank God everyday for having these two women come into my life and guiding them to make the tough calls that can truly save lives.
After my son was born, my husband and I watched him encounter struggles but also watched him fight through this.
Dr. Patrick didn’t just deliver my baby and go on with her life. She called the NICU everyday to check on my little boy and visited my husband and I everyday at the hospital. I was told by another doctor that once babies are sent to the NICU, they are NICUs responsibly and patient.
But that women’s heart was so big, and she stood by us to keep us strong for our child. Thank you and God Bless you both!

  • Now that I’m 33 weeks along, I get to go to my OB every week and get this awesome reminder. And I’m not being sarcastic. The OB can be such a strange place for women. It can be comfortable, safe, positive yet also scary, full of vulnerability, and questions. This-in the bathroom—is helpful. and I’m thankful for it. #womenscareflorida #absolutehealthandwellness
