  • I saw some stats today which painted a pretty bleak picture.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In a recent study of the advertising industry (which I used to work in) just 15% of employees felt that their company was putting their wellbeing high up the agenda. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This stat is not only rather shocking but hugely disappointing. It's for this reason that I quit my 9-5 - but several years and a global pandemic later, it seems that nothing has changed.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Companies like this failing to address the needs of their employees (whether working hours, or working from home) are big reasons why many of us have chosen to go self-employed. To be in charge of our own time, our own freedom and our own enjoyment.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What made you want to turn your back on the corporate world?

  • If we are not constantly leveling up, chasing our dreams, and living up to our potential... neither will our kids. Because our children will do what they see, not what we say. If you can’t do it for yourself, do it for your kids 💯

  • [Edited] Since yesterday’s #womensupportingwomen challenge, it has come to light the reason behind the challenge which is putting a stop to violence towards women.
.
Despite us all having a bit of fun on social media and spreading the love (which of course is important) the real reason behind the challenge is more important, and should not be side tracked by the vanity of social media.
.
For more information, please read the post by @aliceduparcq so we can educate ourselves on those issues that should be at the fore.

  • This morning when I hopped on my computer, I was delighted to find Google paying homage to Jeanne Baret on her birthday!(She lived July 27, 1740 – August 5, 1807) Next time you marvel at the explosion of color around #StCroix from the beautiful #bougainvillea - think of this brave, pioneering woman who was one of the first Europeans to see these beautiful plants in the New World and was the first woman to circumnavigate the globe.
.
Bougainvillea is native to South America and found throughout the continent, as well as the #Caribbean and many warm places in the US. Philibert Commerçon, a botanist accompanying French Navy admiral Louis Antoine de Bougainville on a 1789 voyage to #circumnavigate the globe, was the first European to describe these vibrant flowering vines. On that same ship was his lover and assistant, Jeanne Baret, who was an expert in botany. Baret was forced to hide her identity as a woman on board by disguising herself as a man because women were not allowed on navy ships. Not only was she likely the first European to observe these colorful plants, but she was also the first woman to sail around the world!
.
You can learn more about Jeanne Baret and her efforts to pursue her passion for botany while concealing her identity on a dangerous journey in the 2011 book "The Discovery of Jeanne Baret: A Story of Science, the High Seas, and the First Woman to Circumnavigate the Globe" https://amzn.to/3f3IENa (I just ordered it myself!)

This picture is from the first time I ever flew by myself. I went to Colorado for my sister’s wedding. Truth by told I was always a little nervous to fly and 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 wanted to get on a plane by myself. BUT I did it and it wasn’t so bad. Now I’ve flown all over the place by myself. I actually don’t mind it at all.⁣
⁣
⁣I talk so much about that bubble called the comfort zone. If you’re stuck you need to examine that bubble. I’ve also talked about being stuck in a rut. That rut is the bubble which is the comfort zone. It’s all the same thing. 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. ⁣
⁣
Believe me! Pushing through the awkwardness will feel uncomfortable but that’s only until it’s not. There will be big rewards on the other side. ⁣
⁣
In the past when I made myself do the uncomfortable things I realized that I had quite a few negative things that I thought about myself. That’s what being stuck in a rut can sometimes do. So smash through the glass ceiling that you put over your head. ⁣

⁣Know that you are strong, smart and badass. Think of all of the tasks you manage on a daily basis like a boss. Don’t stay in that comfort zone. The universe needs for you to lean into who you are meant to be. It’s a beautiful process that will begin to unfold. #smashtheglassceiling #getuncomfortable #overcomeobstacles #createjoy #fillyourcup #lifeissweet #breakthroughs

  • Do you know what a filter bubble is and why it’s important? Swipe ⬅️ to find out!

@alisha_jpeg Let’s talk filter bubbles! As comfortable as it has been for me to live in a nice cushy online echo chamber, it’s problematic because it leads us to build false narratives about people who hold ideologies we do not agree with. Yet it is also difficult and uncomfortable to break out of this bubble. Civil dialogue that allows for more than one perspective is not the easiest to come by or be part of-nobody wants to be wrong, but nobody has to be. And as it turns out, the algorithms aren’t helping.

To paraphrase Epictetus, it’s impossible for us to learn what we think we already know.

  • So I did a thing the other night and spoke in front of heaps of people (with some other gorgeous girls) about my experience in the Gratitude Gang 〰️ why it made sense to me and what I love about it.

2 years ago I would have never had the courage or self belief to even consider doing anything like that!

I've always been physically brave (#adrenalinejunkie) because I trusted the strength and ability of my body but I never really had the emotional confidence to step out of my comfort zone in other ways.

If you'd love to take a closer look at what we do or even just want a sneak peak be sure to reach out for the link xx

  • There are so many ways we can nourish ourselves body, mind + soul. And what works for one won't necessarily work for the other.

We have to seek what sets our soul on fire, and sometimes the path to what we think we really want is totally different than what we thought it would be.

We can't control the external world but what we can control is ourselves.

〰️ we can control how we nourish our bodies (what we eat and drink and what movement we do) and whether we are fuelling our bodies with high quality nutrients or with foods that are highly processed and have the potential to cause inflammation and dis ease.

〰️ we can control what information we take in (what we watch and listen to - I never watch the mainstream news or TV because I feel like it's a constant fear campaign trying to brain wash the public with its propaganda and subliminal messages 🙊)

〰️and we can control what we do with our minds (are you excited about breaking down the BS stories of your past to evolve into your best self or do you find comfort in the familiarity of your situation and feel safer when things stay the same?)

If you'd love to explore how to truly nourish your soul check out my coaching packages through the milkshake link in my bio 👆🏼

(Tell the truth are you singing "my milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard" 🤣 if you weren't, you probably are now 🙊 #sorrynotsorry)

  • If people at work aren’t taking you seriously, or think you’re too young or entry-level there are several ways to change that. Aside from working hard (the most important thing) remember to dress the part. Do you dress for the job you want to have? How does your boss dress? How does your role model dress (whether that’s Chloe Sevigny or Barack Obama...do a little research.) Look at your professional attire. Maybe swapping your t-shirt for a button-down shirt would make a big difference. Or changing your sneakers for leather brogues (buy them second-hand if you’re on a budget or don’t want to break them in.) Step up your style and see the difference. ⚪️ When I was a teenager I had a job at a major fashion magazine. I borrowed some chic clothes from my mother, added some heels I bought in Chinatown. My coworkers thought I was older and didn’t question my age. ⚪️ Consider how you visually communicate with people. Style is very powerful. ⚪️ Do you think she looks nerdy or Gucci?

  • If you live for people's acceptance, you'll die from their rejection

Lecrae Moore

I realised that for a long time I was trying to be someone else in order to gain people’s acceptance. Not consciously, but I was definitely being the person who I thought I was supposed to be. I wanted to make my parents proud, be a 'good person' and fit in with my friends
- I thought that you had to work hard and sacrifice your life and time to be successful... #thankssocialconditioning.

Sound familiar?

I actually got to the point in my early 30's where I didn't even really know what lit me up anymore.... I had done all the things uni, marriage, house, attempted having children..... but I'd lost my spark and my inner glow ....so I went searching for it!

It was honestly a bit overwhelming in the beginning but what I found that worked was to have this constant mantra going in my head "if I truly loved myself what would I do next" and I followed that for a while until it became familiar to do what I loved!

After swapping what I 'thought' was the right thing to do to with what actually lights me up - what I've come to believe is that your value does not decrease based on someone’s inability to see your worth. The fear of losing friends or not fitting in is bigger than the fear of being someone that you aren’t. Many times, we are too scared to be ourselves because that might mean risking your friendships with people. What we should actually fear is living our whole life as someone else.

There is one thing you must never make apologies for in life-being yourself! Freedom is being you without anyone’s permission. Make no apologies for following your heart; a woman on a mission needs no permission.

In order to maintain a healthy self-image, we must seek only for inward acceptance. An internal security will always produce an outward stability!

Why am I telling you this?

Because you are the only person who can change your circumstances and you are worthy of feeling amazing - so if you are not you need to ask yourself one question.....

If I truly loved myself what would I be doing right now?

Happy Wednesday Lovers xx

  • If you feel like your sitting on your hands, because it's familiar + safe to do what you've always done (even when it doesn't light you up anymore)

I want you to know that being your authentic self + following your passions is your birthright + one of the most brave + beautiful things you could ever do.

I want you to know that it's ok to make waves + to stand out in the crowd - you are safe to rise up + succeed in doing something that lights you up.

Imagine a world where we all got to live our dream lives + cheered eachother on to reach our highest potential 🙌🏼

The thing is 〰️ we are the only thing we can control + if we want the world to be a better place we must first start with ourselves ✌🏼

You owe it to yourself + the world to follow your highest excitement + live the life of your dreams ☀️

You've got this 👊🏼

  • Empowerment is never about blame; it is about taking personal responsibility.

Bryant McGill 〰️ as soon as we can honestly accept that we are 100% responsible for our own actions & that other people are 100% responsible for theirs we can liberate ourselves from the bonds of blame and denial and start the process of true healing!

Throughout my work and educational career I at times struggled and couldn’t grasp what to others seemed like “basic” concepts. I would get frustrated with myself and put myself down.
Last year my supervisors asked me if I’d ever been screened for Dyslexia (I hadn’t) and as quick as you know it I was screened and they were right I have Dyslexia and Irlen Syndrome!
I looked up the symptoms and was surprised how many I identified with and wondered how I hadn’t diagnosed myself before (us psychologists do that sometimes). Nevertheless I managed to graduate as a Forensic Psychologist before anyone expected me to and for that I am extremely proud of myself for.
I just wanted to share that, as no matter what obstacles are thrown in your way, you can and will achieve your goals if you just keep trying!

  • This is a question I get asked - how do I feel wealthy without the millions already in the bank?⁣
⁣
Well, it’s all in your vibes baby!⁣
⁣
Ever notice when you’re having an ultra confident day, walking down the street with a bounce in your step and a smile on your face you get SO much more attention from people around you?⁣
⁣
That’s because they’re attracted to your vibe and inner confidence!
⁣
Same with money.⁣
⁣
And you have the power to step into a wealthy vibe every single day (without it physically really needing it to cost you anything) through the choices you make.⁣
⁣
Here are some of the ways I choose that:⁣
⁣
💫 Keeping my home in order and decorating it in a way that makes me feel upgraded and at peace. I light candles EVERY night because they make me feel awesome!⁣
⁣
💫 Playing music that makes me feel happy and joyous⁣
⁣
💫 Working from local coffee shops or treating myself to a glass of champagne somewhere fabulous ⁣
⁣
💫 Moving my body every day! I use Classpass which means I have access to awesome workout studios & get to mix it up whenever⁣
⁣
💫 Picking the luxurious version! Whether that’s my soap, perfume, plates, mugs - whatever makes ME feel good!⁣
⁣
💫 Outsourcing things that I don’t enjoy (like laundry!)⁣
⁣
💫 Always having my mani pedi on point! This is just a personal thing & helps me feel high vibe even when working from home in sweats ⁣
⁣
💫 And saying yes to experiences that support me in feeling like I’m saying YES to abundance right here and right now, not “one day” (like renting a gorgeous air b n b by the beach or driving a Porsche for the weekend just to see how it feels)⁣
⁣
And of course the MOST important part of all is being really conscious of the habitual thoughts and feelings I have every single day around money. And releasing any fears or blocks as I feel them surfacing 💸⁣
⁣
Starting Monday I’m relaunching my 5 day I AM A MONEY MAGNET challenge! Every day I’ll be sharing fun but impactful shifts you can start implementing right now to become that total money magnet babe!⁣
⁣
Who’s joining me?! 🙋🏼‍♀️⁣

  • 👈🏽 Swipe · An excellent illustration of “the glass cliff” that womxn in the corporate world are subjected to, by @deepitashukla.
Representation isn’t as simple and straightforward as just giving jobs to womxn. This is one of the many layers in this complex equation.

  • Your very existence might be the courageous act that inspires just one person to follow their dreams. .

Your unique voice on a topic might be the voice that someone has been waiting for. .

Ever think like that? .

My spiritual mentor tells me this a lot.

Do not think you are just another person getting into coaching, speaking or writing.
You are YOU.
Someone is waiting for YOUR take on how they can find that extra OOMF in life.
No amount of qualifications will prepare you for that. No amount of self-analysis. It’s not about whether you’ve collected testimonials or accolades. It’s about HEART AND SOUL. It’s about showing up with your flair and speaking your truth. If just one person changes their outlook on how badass their life is - that’s all worth it! .

So:
What stops us from believing we can rise higher? Your mindset is the MOST PERSISTENT BLOCK you need to master. #allaboutmindset 💡

And I have a talk on this coming up. Tickets just released.
I am speaking at an event this Sunday in Browns Victoria, London if you fancy coming along? .

It is hosted by @well_and_calm together with @successresourcesuk who look after Tony Robbins. Some very interesting speakers too. I’ll be sharing how to create a winning mindset - and how to breakthrough into your personal power to skyrocket your success. Details in my stories. .

DM me if you are coming!

  • For many, many years now, I’ve been able to create a Mother’s Day and Father’s Day release and talk about them with so many of you at @horseshoemarket just in time for you to get cards to your friends, family, and loved ones. I was able to hug long time customers (remember hugs?!), wish so many friends a happy Mother’s Day/Father’s Day, laugh until my cheeks hurt with all of you, chat with fellow vendors, and if I’m being honest...kind of forget that I don’t have a relationship with my own mother since coming out to her a long time ago 🏳️‍🌈. It was that silver lining during a time that has been weird for me. With this virus sweeping the nation, Horseshoe had to make the tough call to cancel the market this month BUT, in typical (and amazing) Amy and Doug fashion, the Horseshoe Crew has put together a virtual market full of vendors and makers you all know and love including me, PAGEFIFTYFIVE 💌! Follow Horseshoe over on Instagram and check out what they have in store for the next couple weeks! It’s bound to be magical ✨#luckyfinds

  • Now when it's 𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕕𝕠𝕟𝕖,
I get the 𝓾𝓹𝓹𝓮𝓻 𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓭.

I need a 𝕓𝕚𝕘 𝔹𝕖𝕟𝕫,
not 𝒶𝓃𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇 𝒻𝒶𝓃.
