18 y/o Shai’India Harris was shot and killed in Portland, OR this past Friday around 12:45pm. 🖤 She had just graduated from Parkrose High School last month, with so many plans for her bright future. ✨ She was an honor roll student, Straight A's, and headed to Atlantic College in the Fall. Her grandmother, Renee Harris shared that “she came from a good family, she has a gang of sisters and brothers that she left behind, she has two parents that love her and did everything they could to help her through life." ✨

Shai’India’s family has shared that she was in a domestic violence relationship that led to her murder. It is through her memory that her family would like to create a non-profit in her name. In the family’s GoFundMe page, they shared that this movement will empower and educate youth, to find their voices and strengths - and be a resource for any young person who is a victim or survivor of domestic abuse. Any additional funds raised beyond funeral costs will go directly to this fund.✨

Shai enjoyed eating seafood, finding beautiful views and living life to the fullest everyday. Please share and donate to Shai’India’s parents GoFundMe, organized by her father. Share Shai’India’s story and keep her bright, colorful energy alive. Protect your friends, your siblings, and your family from domestic abusers. Link in bio

On August 9, 2010, the remains of a 24-year-old woman named Mitrice Richardson were found in a rugged part of Malibu Canyon below Piuma Canyon Road. She had been missing since September 17, 2009.

Before going missing Mitrice had been exhibiting symptoms of mania and was arrested after attempting to “dine and dash.” She went missing after being released by Lost Hills police at 12:30 am to an empty lobby.

Why didn’t deputies hold Richardson longer for a mental health evaluation, especially after they were told at the restaurant that she had made several irrational remarks, and she was found to be sober? How could they let a young woman walk alone into the night?

There were no obvious bullet wounds and no evidence of knife stabs or blunt force trauma, so the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Investigators determined that Mitrice’s death was an accident. Her family and those who support them don’t believe she was hiking and fell to her death. They have accused police of not properly investigating Mitrice’s case.

Mitrice is the daughter of Latice Sutton and Michael Richardson. She was raised by her mother and stepfather Larry Sutton in Covina, California.

Mitrice was an open and proud lesbian in a committed relationship with her girlfriend, Tessa Moon. She was a former beauty pageant contestant who graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a 4.0 grade point average, held down two jobs, and volunteered for charity.

If you have any information, call the anonymous tip line at (310)906-0435.

Additionally you can contact Det. Chuck Knolls of the Los Angeles Police Department at (213)485-2531 or click on bringmitricehome.org.

  • REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF SOROR SANDRA BLAND 💙💛

Five years ago today, our soror #SandraBland died in police custody after a routine traffic stop. Today, we remember her as an outspoken change agent for social justice and equality. Saying her name is important because Black women and girls are also affected by police violence. Please share images and your memories of Soror Bland and how her story has inspired you to become more vigilant in the fight against injustice. ✊🏾💙💛

In our eyes, there will never be justification for all these murders by the police. We demand the families be respected and given answers. • #neverforget ~ Atatiana Jefferson was a loving sister, daughter, aunt, and friend by all accounts. Nearly a year ago now, Atatiana was playing video games with her 8-year-old nephew and left her door slightly open to allow a cool breeze to enter the home. Fort Worth PD were called to check on the home, but instead of following proper protocol, officer Aaron Dean snuck into her backyard unannounced and upon seeing her through a window, shot and killed her within seconds in her own home. Dean never announced his presence as an officer. He was indicted for murder, but Atatiana’s family is still fighting for justice each and every day. Atatiana should still be with us. Tomorrow we’ll be at the Old Red Courthouse 7pm in her name demanding justice and accountability. #atatianajefferson #sayhername #sayhernameatatianajefferson @atatiana_project @nextgenaction @grassrootslaw Repost @leemerrittesq

  • Is it just me or have we been stuck in that Back to the Future timeline where Biff rises to political power & the entire world is a hot mess? The good news is we’re at the part where the truth cracks wide open & people are DONE being compliant. Stay the course, family. Keep moving. Keep posting. Keep marching. Keep writing. Keep protesting. Keep tearing down racist ass monuments. Keep supporting other oppressed groups. Keep saying their names. Again and again and again. #saytheirnames #sayhername #brionnataylor #elijahmcclain #georgefloyd

  • 18 y/o Shai’India Harris was shot and killed in Portland, OR this past Friday around 12:45pm.

🔗LINK IN BIO UNDER MUTUAL AID BLM 🔗
