  • I love Nike, but...DON’T “just do it.”
🚫🚫🚫
Yesterday was a gut check. I went to the track after work for a planned workout with running, plyometrics & stairs.
About halfway through I started feeling minor knee pain. 💥💥💥
.
Growing up in sports, I always had the “just do it” or “work through it” mentality.
BUT. Working through acute pain/ injuries isn’t smart. It can turn pain into injury.
❗️❗️❗️
I stopped my workout. Adapted. I worked through some stability & proprioceptive exercises that didn’t aggravate my pain.
And today, I’m getting it treated by one of my colleagues (chiros need care too!)
.
Your body NEEDS rest & recovery.
Working through pain isn’t the answer.
Stop 🛑 . Get assessed. Get treated. Find a therapist that will set you up for long term success:
Proper assessment + Hands on therapy + Rehabilitation + Education.
Because, “JUST DO IT” isn’t the answer when it comes to pain & injury. ✅

The body is one KINETIC CHAIN. Movement at one end affects the other. And more importantly dysfunctions, weaknesses, and asymmetries at one area in the body can have a devastating impact both PROXIMALLY and DISTALLY.
.
No matter what protocol you administer to the body, if we don’t treat or move the foot we will continue to respond to the inefficiencies.
.
The foot, quite literally, is the basis of everything we do. Our feet give us balance and stability but are often overlooked.
.
Small movements in the foot equate to massive movements elsewhere in the body and improvements in articulation of your foot can have a huge effect on your squat.
.
One of the most common biomechanical problems with the foot is abnormal pronation and navicular drop as seen in my Single Arm DB Snatch.
.
In the video above my foot tends to turn out to accomodate the lack of dorsiflexion, and then the foot drops inward. This becomes very apparent when you look at the foot and ankle from behind during my squat. There is also some rear foot eversion of the calcaneous.
.
Excessive pronation of the foot increases the risk of biomechanical dysfunction, instability, knee valgus, internal rotation of the hip joint and therefore a change in pelvic position, which contributes to lower back dysfunction.
.
We must therefore improve foot mechanics to ensure proper squat movement. Otherwise you will have biomechanical issues that can impede your ability, efficiency and can lead to serious injury.

    Small movements in the foot equate to massive movements elsewhere in the body and improvements in articulation of your foot can have a huge effect on your squat.
    .
    One of the most common biomechanical problems with the foot is abnormal pronation and navicular drop as seen in my Single Arm DB Snatch.
    .
    In the video above my foot tends to turn out to accomodate the lack of dorsiflexion, and then the foot drops inward. This becomes very apparent when you look at the foot and ankle from behind during my squat. There is also some rear foot eversion of the calcaneous.
    .
    Excessive pronation of the foot increases the risk of biomechanical dysfunction, instability, knee valgus, internal rotation of the hip joint and therefore a change in pelvic position, which contributes to lower back dysfunction.
    .
    We must therefore improve foot mechanics to ensure proper squat movement. Otherwise you will have biomechanical issues that can impede your ability, efficiency and can lead to serious injury.

Пока вы тренируетесь ваши крупные мышцы находятся в тонусе и способны держать позвоночник, но если вы не тренируетесь больше недели, нервная система понимает, что в обычной жизни вам не надо широчайшей мышцей тягать 20и более кг, и перестаёт подавать сигналы на развитие силовых волокон в это место, а зачем? ⠀

Ведь это для функционирования и выживания не нужно, только трата лишних усилий и энергии, а ослабевая эти мышцы перестают так крепко держать Ваш позвоночник, ведь это не основная их функция... и тогда вся нагрузка возвращается на мелкие мышцы стабилизаторы, но так как они не привыкли выполнять эти функции все патологии возвращаются с удвоенной силой... отсюда и «если я перестаю тренироваться все снова⠀начинает болеть»...⠀

Задача реабилитации таких патологий⠀- это научить наше тело, а в частности нашу нервную систему, правильно распределять нагрузку в обычных функционально-бытовых движениях.⠀

Если вы правильно ходите, стоите, мышцы которые держат позвоночник тренируются, если ваше тело правильно распределяет нагрузку и двигается во время уборки, готовки, дороге на работу и других бытовых делах, то позвоночные диски не перегружаются, идёт восстановление и должное питание. ⠀
И тогда если вдруг какая то ситуация что вы делаете перерыв в тренировках, вы не начинаете сразу чувствовать все ваши болячки, а спокойно функционируете, делая всего лишь небольшую зарядку)⠀

Силовой тренинг - это хорошо, но очень важно учить своё тело двигаться функционально во всех плоскостях и во всех направлениях, тогда тело будет вам благодарно на долгие годы 😊⠀

Всем доброе утро друзья ✌🏽Сегодня мы с Вами поговорим о том что такое боль❌

Во первых боль 🤕 в 100% случаев является именно ИСХОДЯЩИМ мультисистемным сигналом мозга. Чаще всего это реакция на некачественную проприоцептивную информацию он наших рецепторов. И наш мозг 🧠 расценивает это как угрозу.

Боль не является объективным маркером 🤔 наличия повреждения , точно так же уровень боли не говорит нам о степени повреждения.
—
Так как боль является механизмом выживания, любая угроза 🤭 может интерпретирована как боль 😳

Если говорить простым языком, то если у вас объективно не торчит топор 🪓 в колене, то болеть оно не должно. А присутствующая боль лишь является сигналом того, что ваш мозг 🧠 не до конца понимает, что происходит в этой области вашего тела и пытается донести до вас эту  информацию.

Соответственно улучшая качество входящей сенсорной информации, мы можем ингибировать любой болевой синдром 🤔

  • ❗️Transformation Tuesday❗️
Sometimes our lives have to be completely shaken up, changed and rearranged to relocate us to the place we are meant to be.
.
Just one day out of the hospital I am not only focused on healing my body; but I am now continuously working to transform my mind and my spirit. 
.
This accident was very traumatic and I am still a bit shaken up and in pain. I can buy another @cadillac but I can’t by the lives of my family and I.
.
My good friend and client @thomashumes616 told me, “Your Blessed to be a blessing my brother.”
.
I definitely took that to heart as it motivates me to become a better man. 
.
Have a good day fit fam and really try to focus on what really matters. I promise you that it’s not the material things.

  • Quarantine has definitely given us a lot of time to look back on the past year

For me, it’s been long days and short months all leading up to the next stage in my career. Last May I graduated with my doctorate then shipped out to the Midwest to start a residency program. It’s amazing how  quickly that time can go but also the incredible opportunities that wait ahead. Now if the pandemic could just slow down so I could get a job that would be great 😅😂
