  • Yesterday, I was all stretched out and started to warm up for deadlifts when Steve cut his finger pretty bad. Off to the walk-in we go. So, deadlifts on Sunday. No harm done.  PRโ€™d second week of the block. Most I pulled for 8โ€™s was 240 last August. Today, I pulled 245x8 for two sets!   • Do you miss your bench press about 1/2 up?  If so, some incline bench press is a nice addition. We always do these with a grip somewhere inside of the rings to really target the triceps more.

One thing to keep in mind is the absolute load. I do much better when my absolute loads are higher (but there are times to still drop the absolute weight). My 1RM incline is 255lbs, far below my best competition bench press. When this is the case I like to build it up@over time. I will run a linear block with incline as an accessory movement. When the time is right I may throw it in the rotation of max effort lifts #precisionpowerliftingsystems #constraintsledconjugate

  • Data. I used to collect a lot of data, now this is what I really care about. PRs in all of the variations. This allows me to identify strengths and weaknesses in all 3 lifts. It also gives me something to measure current performance against. With my lifters we tend to keep volume pretty steady across the board and only increase it when I feel that more is necessary. This is actually very rare in my opinion. Volume increases as strength increases almost naturally. They record last set RPEs for everything and in conjunction with communication, I get a good gauge of their current recovery. This is simple and simple is important so we do not get lost in the noise. It is also flexible as I can switch things around based off of the recovery and performance of each lifter #precisionpowerliftingsystems #constraintsledconjugate

  • I found the box to be very helpful to me to figure out how to push into the pressure bubble of the equipment to hit depth. It is easy to run into the thought process that you just need more weight to get down. For me, I was relying on the weight to push me down (squat and bench) instead of me being aggressive in the gear and doing the work

  • Decided to throw the oversized F6 on and see where I am at today. Did not go well haha. Didnโ€™t even feel like I was wearing a shirt compared to the smaller Super Katana. I just run out of speed once the shirt kicks out. Decided to try something after to work on that issue

Put the pins at the spot the bar stalls, and brought my grip in a bit. Floor press can be relaxed to dynamic to build explosive strength from this position, but that wasnโ€™t an option today. Decided to statically contract the upper back and the the back extensors, but try to relax everything else. When I felt ready, I took a breath, and exploded into the weight. Much like a fighter throwing a punch.

At lockout I decided to do a burnout of protraction/retraction with the 315lbs. I heard the Westside Barbell Culver City group would do these with overloaded weights. It was pretty brutal. I will add these in more frequently. Finished up with a 5x5 football bar incline to hit those pecs @mike_damico_strength @liftlikelindss #precisionpowerliftingsystems #constraintsledconjugate

  • This is a cool video for a couple of reasons. One, @alyssaliftsthings hit a 10kg squat PR from her last meet in February. She hit 336lbs as a 3rd in the left video, and 358lbs last night. We have added 20kg to her total since February as well

Look at the difference in positions. On the left Alyssa is close stance with lifters on. You can see her pitch forward a bit out of the hole too. We took off those lifters and started attacking the wide stance variations. She got a TON of box squats. We did a lot of high bar too. We can see the pitching looking much better and the strength in the hips and hamstrings are much better (those who say the hamstrings donโ€™t do anything in the squat, my hamstrings are lit up after squatting). Wide stance builds closer stances as well. She will get more speed with the feet a hair closer and we can probably get another 2.5-5kg there #precisionpowerliftingsystems #constraintsledconjugate

  • One of my weaknesses in the squat is my upper back. I tend to lose it on the way up. This decreases bar speed and forces me to fight through reps that I am strong enough to lift, but canโ€™t display that strength efficiently.  Good thing I pull a lot more than I squat, it helps me here. One thing I like to use to attack this weakness is accommodating resistance. I ran 2 waves with the SSB with bands and then brought back in the straight weight to see how we are doing

I hit 467lbs in 46 suit bottoms. My best SSB is 480lbs in size 44 bottoms. Even better here is my technique. It still breaks down a bit, but is a lot better than the 480lbs was, where I was basically as round as I could be.   • My 3rd powerlifting meet and 1st time on the national stage is in the books! This was one of the craziest and best experiences of my life. Logistically, the situation was not ideal. I was inexperienced and without a coach/handler which was evident in my performance. The challenges along the way made this accomplishment all the more sweet and I am PROUD! Thank you to all who believed and supported me along the way @silentmikke @tommywishbone @kimehpi @raeatoldskool @oldskooliron @jess.ablang @crossfitgalvanize @xgx3x @andrea.chapin @rosieknowsit and especially my bestie @dogwalkingbikerider for his adventurous spirit, getting a crash course in competition and being the ultimate snack captain.   • "She was so much better at being alone; being alone came more naturally to her. She led a life of deliberate solitude, and if occasional loneliness crept in, she knew how to work her way out... Or even better, how to sink in and absorb its particular comforts." Moods while I'm in the gym and tbh in general! I am a pretty introverted person I get my energy from being alone and it's quite peaceful! However, this doesn't mean I am antisocial, I am just picky about who I want in my circle. For instance, if I grow to become comfortable with you or I like your vibe and you seem approachable  I will never stop talking and we will have a good conversation! So don't think I'll bite your head off in the gym... I swear I am not at bitchy as I may look ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ˜…โค๏ธ โ€ข
