  • 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐖𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐒𝐎 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐋 ❤️ (it's a long-ish one)

So this picture was taken a little while back and a couple of months ago I was picking it apart. I'm not in my best physical shape right now, I've skipped so many workouts lately and my diet hasn't been as balanced as it should be. But you know what, whatever. Look at that confidence, I'm owning it despite my negative self-talk at the time.
.
We are all beautiful in so many ways and we can't spend forever wishing we were like everyone else. I'll get back into the gym and I'll start getting back to my best physical fitness, but for now I'm gonna enjoy feeling confident regardless of a little roll here and there. If it's helping me get through the mental disruption of lockdown and a new bizarre routine, it's worth it. ✌️

  • DO YOU WEAR HEELS TO LOOK TALLER?

I got my first pair of "proper" heels when I was 17. I felt grown up, glamorous and dressed up when I used to put a pair on. My mum loved heels. She bought a really nice pink pair low heeled pair once. The lady in the shop commented, "you could even get away with a taller pair, they would give you extra height." 
When we got in the car I also asked Mum if she wore heels to look taller. At just under 5 feet tall she was petite to say the least. She said she wore them to look and feel "made up." Never for height. She also explained that whilst in the UK she never felt short or small but that whenever she visited Pakistan, people made comments about her being "nikki" or "choti" (small) and were shocked at her marriage to my 6 foot tall dad. They also found a preoccupation with "khad," (height)  preferring girls to be taller. I never thought my mum was small, even when I became taller than her. 
This is just one example of rejecting the idea that someone may be satisfied with themselves. 

Growing up I was very pale. Naturally people thought I loved this and "wished" they could be fairer too. I also had very light brown hair which eventually darkened to almost black. 
"Why dont you get some highlights? You'd look better if you were a few inches taller/slimmer." 
"Your so fair. You shouldn't always wear so much bronzer."
"I like the way I do my makeup."
"I like my hair colour. I think darker hair suits me."
"I happy with my height, I like wearing heels and flats."

As women its okay to have insecurities or things we want to change about ourselves. Its also okay to like things about ourselves. In spaces where appearance is such a big deal it should be okay to say "I like the way I look."
Its almost as if the minute we accept ourselves, everybody else unaccepts us. People may have stopped picking so many faults and accepted the change, but still want you to change their way.
Some even think if a girl likes the way she looks, her shape, size, hair colour, thats she arrogant. Self acceptance is a form of self love. Self acceptance and self love isn't arrogance, self worship is.

I thought I’d tried everything 😢
I thought I’d tried my hardest 😔
I honestly thought I was destined to be obese forever 😭
.
This mentality is common amongst all the women I speak to. They get so stuck in their negative mindset loops that they can’t see a different way. It’s like the cloud of obesity has come over them and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel 🛑 💡
.
Let me share though, that you can get out of this mindset. There IS light at the end of the tunnel, and gradually, over time it will be revealed to you IF you do ONE thing...

  • It’s funny how people love having tattoos, and often see them as a sign of growth from the moment that they got them, but people don’t look at scars and stretch marks in the same way. They are caused by physical growth - the transition from a teen to an adult, out of emotional eating when your body grew to comfort you, out of happiness and comfort and a time of plentiful which is a privilege when there are so many starving in the world or maybe out of growing a tiny human inside you which is single handedly the most incredible thing a body can do. Stretch marks represent so much, and people should start to try and see them as a story on their body, no matter the story. They are wonderful reminders of how much our body can go through and endure. They’re incredibly beautiful - you just need to change the way you think about them🌺 #stretchmarks #loveyourbody #positivebodyimage #youdeservebetter

🇮🇹 Per anni gli altri mi hanno dato un valore in base alle mie scelte alimentari. E così ho creduto che mangiando carote sarei stato migliore che se avessi mangiato una fetta di torta di carote. Ma per quante carote mangiassi, c’era sempre qualcos’altro che non avrei dovuto mangiare. Più che di cibi, mi nutrivo della convinzione che non potessi avere fame. Perché per il corpo che avevo era la punizione che dovevo scontare. Cosa ha portato tutto questo? Solo a un senso di vergogna e fallimento. Ho dovuto imparare a non dividere più i cibi in buoni e cattivi prima di capire che potevo far posto a tanti alimenti nella mia vita senza averne paura ❤️

🇬🇧 For years people gave me a value based on my food choices. And so I believed that eating carrots would have been better than eating a slice of a carrot cake. But no matter how many carrots I ate, there was always something else I shouldn't have eaten. More than food, I nurtured the belief that I couldn't be hungry. It was the punishment I had to serve for my body. What did all this bring? Only to a sense of shame and failure. I had to learn not to divide food into good and bad before I realized that I could eat so many foods in my life without being afraid of them

  • Wow - it’s three years to the day that I opened the doors of Pilatiz and what an incredible whirlwind it has been. Never more than ever have I felt more comfortable and sure in what I’m doing and it keeps on getting better and better.⁠
⁠
I few things that I’ve learnt over the last year:⁠
⁠
•	Set boundaries, it makes the world a better place!⁠
•	Say no (I once wrote a post about saying yes to everything!).. there’s only one of me and lots of you, I can only give when I have in the tank so keeping the tank full is so important⁠
•	Do what feels right, you’ll get the best out of it⁠
•	Make sure that you have some sort of pleasure in every day - it might be something really simple or having to whisk yourself away somewhere hot and sunny for full indulgence⁠
•	You can’t please everyone so keep yourself happy and it radiates like sunshine⁠
•	Believe in yourself⁠
•	Trust in the process⁠

  • Early morning @courtneydblack workout complete over video chat with my sister. I really love getting these workouts over and done with early in the morning so that I can then get on with the day. I think Saturday is my favourite day for working out because early morning isn’t 6am!

To make this bowl of goodness I used @alpro mango yoghurt, passion fruit, strawberries, raspberries, banana, pecan nuts, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, and a drizzle of honey to finish.

This was much needed nourishment after my morning run.

I started my day nice and early.......This morning I left home at 7.30am and did a nice steady 5km run followed by 2km of hill sprints, which were gruelling but I felt such a great sense of achievement as my speed has improved so much. I then  cooled down with a nice slow jog and walk for 1km, so I did 8km in total😊.

I try to never miss a Saturday run as they set me up for the weekend.

It’s not something to feel embarrassed or shameful about.

It’s not something to starve yourself over.

It’s not something you need to punish with over exercising.

It’s not something you need to hide.

It’s not a sign of low motivation or lack of health.

So many factors can cause cellulite, not just fat.

Even very thin women have it.

So what should you do about it?

Accept that it’s a normal thing about being human.

Put a swimsuit on anyway.

Wear the shorts anyway.

Live your best life anyway.

This post blew up! I was so happy and excited that people were reading and sharing my message!

It was a real confidence builder and I’m thankful for everyone who shared it, liked it and so grateful for all the positive conversations it started about postpartum bodies and the challenges moms face after having babies.

I love finding this post and just reading the comments from moms all over the world and from all different backgrounds!

There’s so much that divides us these days and seeing a post I made uniting us gives me so much joy!💕

...
Do these sound/lool familiar
- Are you sick?
- Don't you eat?
- Are you okay?
🤦How these questions get on my nerves. Of course some people may mean good but for others.... hmmpphh, I can't say
I do not let these things get to me because as far as I'm concerned I'm as healthy as can be.
The fact that someone is super slim or super fat doesn't mean you have to carry their weight on your head.
You may never know "what is behind" that weight.
For all you know it could be a health issue or just something the person is struggling with
You don't just blatantly speak of it.
Learn to respect some boundaries.
Anyways, a happy Thursday and a happy new month to you reading this.

  • TOXIC DIET CULTURE‼️
Recently I’ve been thinking about how exercise and fitness has become much more about how we look than what it’s actually supposed to be about - improving our health, fitness levels and mental wellbeing✅
While it’s amazing that people can feel more confident by using fitness to achieve their physique goals, it shouldn’t be the primary focus of fitness❌
Until the last year or so, I had never used exercise for aesthetic purposes and always used sport as a way to improve my fitness levels and feel better. During the last year where I’ve put a focus on gaining muscle in the winter (which is all withering away thanks to gyms being closed, RIP muscles😂) and cutting in the summer, I’ve still never been obsessed about eating strictly “clean foods” or weighing myself every day. Yes I’m using fitness for both aesthetic and health related purposes now, but I don’t think I’ve been putting across the health related side of that on my account as much as the aesthetic side.
I’m slightly ashamed to admit it given that I have a fitness account, but I’ve never really thought about diet culture because it’s never been a problem in my life. I’ve never been obsessed with how my figure looks, but that doesn’t mean other people aren’t and I should always try to be cautious of it when I post content which can be seen by impressionable girls. To me it’s obvious that being slim doesn’t make you better or healthier, but to other people that might not be so obvious (especially in the age of social media)📸
While I’m always very transparent about treating yourself and not having to eat a completely healthy diet to lose weight, I don’t mention how fitness should be mostly for mental and physical wellbeing nearly as much.
Focusing purely on changes in size and shape is and unhealthy way to look at exercise❌ As long as you are a healthy weight for your height and you feel happy with your size, you shouldn’t have ANY reason to feel pressured to change your body👍🏼 #goaldigger #beagoaldigger

Warning: overindulgence of coffee can cause anxiety. If I feel anxious I switch to matcha for a bit.

3) My hubs ( my bestie). He is a left brainer and I’m a right brainer. We have the same goals and interests. Plus he’s a chef so he speaks my love lingo.

4)Travel. I’m a nomadic spirit. Stagnation drives me bonkers. Movement has always made me feel most like myself.

5)Peace & Serenity. It’s the way I connect with the most high. I feel God’s presence in the stillness.
