  • 1990 Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep dark ruby red with smaller edge lightening. Dark fruit, plum toasted, balsamic notes, black olive tapenade, lots of laurel. Medium acidity, with a slightly sweet spice, super nice density, blackberries, plum, juicy extra sweetness, sweet cassis, figs, melted, rolling round tannins, very juicy, also on the palate fine ethereal - garrique and leather. All in all very balanced, with nice viscosity - a sexy, great matured CS from the Napa Valley. No hurry yet 94 points 2020 - 2028 #wine #redwine #napawine #dallavalle #cabernetsauvignon #winewithfriends #finewine #finewines #winelover #winelovers #greatwines #greatwine

• 2017 Premiere Napa Valley
Miner Family 'Under The Wire'
Cabernet Sauvignon

One of our 5 Barrels from our Premier Napa Valley auction from last year has arrived and we drank a bottle yesterday to make sure it was still as delicious as we remembered it! The 2017 Premiere Napa Valley Miner Family 'Under the Wire' Cabernet Sauvignon has only gotten better with time to settle in the bottle! Premiere Napa Valley is a yearly event that features the "best barrel" from each participating winery that gets sold in tiny quantities (60-240 bottles!) to allow the winery and winemaker to select from their finest sources to create a truly handcrafted and personal expression of their style! These are the hardest Napa Cabs to find and buy today!

This 2017 PNV Miner Family Cabernet really blew us away when we tasted it! It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon planted in the red rocky volcanic soils of eastern Oakville literally in the neighborhood of Screaming Eagle, Bond 'St. Eden', Dalla Valle, Rudd and Accendo! The special soils from this area create magical wines that have a weightless sense of texture creating ridiculously smooth and complex wines that are a delight to drink! With 22 months aging in oak to mellow the tannins, this magnificent wine has really come together! We only have about 100 bottles of this PNV Miner Cabernet and it will go fast for this awesome deal! This is on the lower end side for Premiere Napa Valley Cabernet but it tastes better than some of the $500 and $600 I have tried! If you want a wine of complexity and depth without being overdone or a fruit bomb, you will absolutely love this 2017 P.N.V. Miner 'Under The Wire' Cabernet Sauvignon! Grab some while you can and have a great rest of the weekend!
 🍷$275 $250 per bottle  $1350 per 6 pack ($225/btl!)
.
Cheers,

  • Golden delicious apple, salted cashew, barely-ripe peach. Pineapple core, powdered nutmeg, tart grapefruit zest. A tense and driving parade of Meyer lemon, nectarine, and Bartlett pear marches valiantly alongside matchstick, sea breeze, and cinnamon in a cavalcade of elegance and electricity. Honeysuckle, gardenias, and jasmine gallantly emerge to provide an ample dose of pristine floral tones while forest air, pine wood, and sage impart only the subtlest of natural complexities. Notes of crushed sea shells and sandy earth carry a thread of persistent salinity that refuses to relent to smoked almond, vanilla, or delicate barrel spice. Perfectly soft and refined yet still nervous and edgy on the palate; coursing with gripping minerality throughout a profile that is crisp and energetic while simultaneously firm and serious. Medium bodied, expressive yet restrained, and backed by gorgeously high acidity. This 2017 Olivet Lane Vineyard Chardonnay by Gary Farrell Winery is a magnificently classic and brilliantly executed white from the Russian River Valley.
.
Although the French wine region of Burgundy inarguably shapes the world's greatest and most complex examples of Chardonnay, there are many producers from around the globe who are creating exceptional wine using this legendary white grape to challenge Burgundy's virtually unquestioned dominance. This bottling, crafted by Gary Farrell Winery using Chardonnay sourced from the Olivet Lane Vineyard in Sonoma's Russian River Valley, is truly a worthy challenger to France's very best whites. Made in an utterly classic style with immaculate California fruit this wine's tension, energy, and verve far outweigh any impressions of oak or opulence. While just slightly more well endowed, its balance and minerality are nearly reminiscent of its old world rivals and it executes its mission with incredible intentionality and precision. An absolutely outstanding wine.

  • Crunchy blackberry, kalamata olive, juicy black currant. Crushed dark cherry, smoldering incense, black licorice. Wild black raspberry, tart blueberry, and boysenberry lead a tense and brambly procession of foraged berry fruit through a ringer of sagebrush, juniper, and infatuating wild herbs. Notes of potpourri, violet, and iris emerge to reveal contemplative floral overtones before anise, dill, fennel, and thyme retakes control with a barrage of captivating herbal depth. Higher-toned spices including nutmeg, clove, and red pepper flakes combine with bittersweet chocolate and dark roast coffee to provide expansiveness and lift before impressions of grilled red meat, aus jus, iron, and suede leather expose a sanguine and savory edge. Tart, tightly wound, and exceptionally well balanced on the palate; exhibiting gorgeous feral complexity expressed with youthful vibrancy. Medium plus in body with elevated tannin and fresh acidity. This 2017 Estate Red Mountain Syrah by Hedges Family Estate is a serious, structured, and age worthy red from Washington.
.
Located at the eastern end of the Yakima Valley on a singular southwest facing slope, Red Mountain is a tiny winegrowing appellation known as the source of some of Washington State's most complex and profound red wine. This bottling, crafted by Hedges Family Estate using Syrah sourced from their biodynamic estate vineyard on Red Mountain, showcases the astounding depth and herbal complexity that seems to be inherent in the wines this region regardless of variety. This radiates serious yet balanced fruit and prioritizes freshness right alongside concentration, yet it is its incredible savory, spiced, and herbal side that truly defines its profile. While still young this wine is already showing impressively well and brilliantly reflects its world class Red Mountain terroir. Well done.
.
Do you enjoy herbal and savory flavors in wine?

  • Vibrant dark cherry, cracked pepper, blueberry skin. Glass-bottle cola, powdered nutmeg, crunchy boysenberry. A surprisingly ethereal and finesse-driven bouquet of juicy blackberry, red plum, and chocolate covered strawberry whirls with impressive lift aided by complicating notes of sea salt, cinnamon, and cherry blossom. Mint leaf and bougainvillea reveal a subtle yet persistent natural twist enhanced by a pinch of spice and a delicate kiss of oak. Notes of mocha and milk chocolate expose hints of restrained opulence that do not outshine sandy loam and a mild earthy edge. Fresh, bright, and expressive while remaining wonderfully silky and feminine on palate; exhibiting distinctly cool climate verve that favors reflection of terroir over excess weight or concentration. Medium in body with moderate tannin backed gorgeously elevated acidity. This 2017 Bacigalupi Vineyard Zinfandel by T-Vine Winery is a remarkably elegant, complex, and unique red from the Russian River Valley.
.
Although Sonoma's Russian River Valley is known primarily as a source for world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this legendary Californian region has long been home to old Zinfandel vineyards planted by the area's pioneering Italian-American farmers. This bottling, crafted by T-Vine Winery using Zinfandel sourced from the Bacigalupi Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, showcases the incredible allure and characterful complexity that these surviving heritage vineyards still retain today. True to its variety and place of origin this wine emits a fragrant bouquet of ripe yet delicate fruit backed by subtle doses of Zin's typical natural and peppery charms. It is flawlessly balanced and spirited on the palate with bright acidity that ensures its fruit is always offset by freshness. This is an unconventional and terroir-expressive RRV gem.

  • Fresh blackberry, coffee grounds, wild blueberry. Crushed black currant, acacia leaf, juicy dark plum. Crunchy mulberry, dark cherry, and açaí highlight a dense yet vibrant core of inky dark fruit beautifully complicated by pulverized violet, camphor, and cinnamon. Notes of fresh mint, cedar, and eucalyptus advance the theme of clean natural complexity while a restrained dusting of nutmeg and vanilla bean reveals layers of subtle baking spice. Impressions of graham cracker and chocolate provide just a pinch of lifted decadence before gravel, cast iron, and volcanic rock expose terroir-expressive depth. Serious and concentrated on the palate while remaining extraordinarily lively and fresh; showing surprising finesse and restraint despite its substantially endowed and teeth-staining intensity. Medium plus in body with powerful chalky tannin and elevated acidity. This 2016 Flagpole Block Estate Malbec by Hossfeld Vineyards is an exceptionally well balanced and expressive red from Napa Valley.

Known as a key grape in the French region of Cahors and once a major component of the wines of Bordeaux, Mablec is a powerful dark-skinned variety that has found great success in Argentina and also in a range of other new world wine regions. This bottling, crafted by Hossfeld Vineyards using Malbec sourced from their estate in Napa Valley's Soda Canyon, proves that Malbec can absolutely thrive in sunny California. True to type this wine is absolutely packed full of deep black, blue, and purple fruits yet thanks to a fresh vein of acidity manages to express them with impressive balance and subtlety. It is still quite youthful at this stage but should develop beautifully with a decade or more of bottle age. Very well done and seriously delicious.

Are you a fan of Malbec?

What are y’all up to this weekend? Anything exciting? We are laying low the rest of July and trying to have a month of “wellness” around here. And by wellness I mean wellness + wine! 🍷🍷 Cheers!
