Stick with me it gets worse..😂) and since our livers are working their tits off just to process and stay on top of a shit ton of hormones I am questioning the point of further dumping on my fragile organs every so often just because I fancy feeling like an occasional living by the seat of my pants grown up..🤩🤩🤩
I also know that alcohol and me just don’t sit that tightly anymore (if indeed we ever did..😂🤔) and, much the same as the recent sausage scenario I think I need to be clear with myself about exactly how committed I WANT to be to cleaning up my diet.
Actually I don’t do, and have never done ‘diets’, I prefer to think that I eat pretty healthily for the most part and everything else in moderation should be ok. So given that, I don’t think i’m unjustified in wanting my sodding conscience and my inherent tendency to berate myself a’la the sausage incident, a’la pretty much every time an alcoholic beverage passes my lips to jog on thank you very much..
I need to loosen up or look for alternatives and I can’t help thinking that since I drink so little in the first place then maybe why bother at all..🤷🏼♀️
So, i’m on the hunt for something alcohol free but ticks ALL of the other boxes..

Sugar itself doesn't cause any disease as per se.
But overconsumption of refined sugar and refined carbohydrates will.
So does that mean you can still eat sugar and lose weight?
You just need to be wise around your choices.

Search for hidden sugar - mainly in savoury products there can be hidden even 10tsp of refined sugar per portion, but you wouldn't know because it doesn't taste sweet.
Watch out for condiments, jams, PB, pasta sauces, dressings, ready to eat meals and fat-free or low-fat products.
𝟮. 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲?
The golden rule is natural as possible: Honey, Maple syrup, Date syrup, Raw sugar, etc are the best choices.
But the key is the amount!!!
So if the recipe call for 1 cup of sugar is not much healthier than if it calls for 1 cup of honey. Instead, try to lower the amount to half.
𝟯. 𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦
Aspartame, Stevia, Monk Fruit etc... There are so many now.
just chose what suits you. But again go as natural as possible, so prefer natural stevia or monk fruit to any chemicals.
The thing is that there haven't been contemplated enough of studies to know what their long term effect is on the human body.

If someone told me this 5 years ago, I would have probably punched them in the face.
Not because I have an aggressive personality (never actually punched anyone), but because 5 years ago around this time I was told that I needed to have my 2nd surgery scheduled asap.

4️⃣ Not weight training:
Strength training is a key component of metabolism because it is directly linked to our muscle mass. The more active muscle tissue you have, the higher your metabolic rate. It’s also shown that focusing on the eccentric when training is more muscularly damaging (sounds like a bad thing, but this is actually what we WANT so they have to repair/grow back stronger!) thus increasing metabolism more. To put it simply, slowing down the movements on our weights = speeding up metabolism! 💪
5️⃣ Sitting too much:
I know a lot of you may have desk jobs BUT… 🪑 sitting for long periods of time puts your body into a more relaxed, non-energy burning state. If you are stuck at a desk all day, just try to move once an hour! (Better yet, read the next tip for a REALLY benneficial reason to have to get up out of your seat more!)
6️⃣ Not enough water:
Drinking too little water leads to dehydration. Bring dehydrated can cause you to burn less calories. Not to mention ALL of your body’s cellular functions require water. Set reminders on your phone each hour, and aim for about a gallon a day! 💦

That's basically the message that diet culture tells us, and it's all the more intense when it comes to women, cycles, and natural fertility. We are programmed to mistrust our bodies, to see our hormones as a problem, and to pathologize natural, normal functioning of our bodies.
Eat 👏🏼the 👏🏼damn 👏🏼cupcake...no matter what time of the month it is. Because your cravings probably are the result of food rules rather than anything else. (Also...whoever came up with the concept of shaming women for cravings is completely cracked. Period.)
I loved this post by @feelgooddietitian for a million and one reasons.
Zinc benefits the body in many ways — it helps with hormone production, proper growth and repair, improved immunity and promoting normal digestion.
It also has the ability to act as an anti-inflammatory agent, which means that it may have significant therapeutic benefits for several common, chronic diseases like cancer or heart disease, among other zinc benefits.
Zinc also has a major impact on #hormonalbalance, so for this reason, even a small deficiency can result in an increased risk for #infertility or #diabetes.
🦪🥩 Animal foods are the best sources of zinc compared to plant foods, like vegetables, because zinc bioavailability (the fraction of zinc that’s retained and used by the body) is high in foods like animal meat and seafood.
This is due to the absence of compounds that inhibit zinc absorption in animal foods and the presence of sulfur-containing amino acids that improve zinc absorption, like cysteine and methionine.
Although there are plant-based zinc foods, they’re less bioavailable because of their high content of phytic acid (or phytates), which inhibits zinc absorption.
👉🏽 Reports suggest that people who don’t eat meat or animal products, like people on a vegetarian or vegan diet, need up to 50 percent more zinc in their diets to absorb what the body needs.” @drjoshaxe
Zinc is also essential for producing stomach acid. Reduced stomach acid decreases your ability to digest meat which can further deplete zinc stores.
Having some Apple Cider Vinegar or Betaine HCl supplements before eating meat can help the body better digest the food to start upping zinc stores.
Over time it can help the body produce HCl on its own.

ESTROGEN DOMINANCE VS. HIGH ESTROGEN
estrogen dominance is a common condition in a lot of women today. symptoms include heavy, painful periods, breast tenderness, PMS, weight gain, bloating and decreased libido.
I used to believe the term “estrogen dominance” meant that you have too much estrogen in your body, and that too much means it needs to be lowered.
this is not necessarily correct. key about this principle is that in a cycle, you have more estrogen affecting the body RELATIVE TO PROGESTERONE.
this means that you can have estrogen dominance even when it is LOW, because adequate estrogen production is a prerequisite to ovulate. without ovulation, there’s no progesterone production, and you will have estrogen dominance even though your estrogen is way too low.
@our.fertility reminded me that the ovarian follicle that produces estrogen will transform into the progesterone producing corpus luteum (yellow body) after ovulation. and, as she said, a follicle that struggles to produce estrogen will not become a corpus luteum that produces progesterone abundantly.
if you have low estrogen, it will likely take you more days to ovulate, which means the number of days with estrogen as the primary hormone will be higher, meaning more time for estrogen to work in the body (building up the uterine lining). more days with estrogen = estrogen/progesterone ratio goes up, which may cause estrogen dominance.
therefore, to support the body’s progesterone production, getting your estrogen up might be what you need. a bit counterintuitive, but so important. focusing on getting my estrogen up rather than detoxing excess estrogen has been pure magic for my periods.

Strawberry vanilla peanut butter protein oats 🍓🥜 ✨👇
1/2 cup organic rolled oats
8 strawberries, sliced
1 tbsp flaxseed meal
1 tbsp peanut butter
2 tbsp @vivolife RITUAL vanilla protein
Put oats in a bowl and fill with enough boiled water to cover.
Cover with a plate and let stand 5 mins.
Add remaining ingredients, stir, enjoy!
You can use instant oats if you prefer a creamier consistency, but the protein powder and oat milk definitely make this velvety smooth, even with regular rolled oats. Super quick and easy.
