☀️in summary, don’t think you have to switch up your lifestyle over night. It’s not that simple. Take small easy steps focusing on diet, exercise and well-being which will in turn contribute to the lifestyle you wish to live.

I finally broke the 1 pound curse! I got to 2 pounds loss this week, and I’m about to go into a new stone barrier, I’m so happy! This brings my total loss since January to 1 stone 3 pounds 🤩 (not all my loss is on this board, only tracked on it since I got it!)

A new week means new goals! Goal setting is my biggest motivator and I love setting myself new challenges💪🏼⁣

🤍DRINK MORE WATER: I keep forgetting to drink enough water! I always keep this goal on my list as it is so important! I definitely need to get better at making this a habit! ⁣

🤍BEAT MY PB ON HIP THRUSTS: Last week I beat my PB on hip thrusts by 5kg! I am aiming to beat this again this week if I can! ⁣

🤍SKATEBOARD: I used to skateboard a little when I was younger but haven’t for years and am out of practice! I recently bought a new board and want to be able to do tricks etc again! So I want to skateboard as much as I can this week and get back to grips with it! It’s also great cardio! ⁣

🤍HIT MY MACROS: As I am in a calorie surplus at the moment it’s so important for me to hit my macros! I find the easiest way for me to do this is by using MyFitnessPal! I want to hit these everyday this week! ⁣

  • Intermittent Fasting (IF) ⏰ 

What is it?
In short, IF is cycling between periods of being in a fasted state and periods of eating. Pretty simple. 

There are a few different ways or methods that people like to use when fasting, but I am only going to briefly explain one, because the rest I think are total shite:
16/8 Method - Fasting for 16 hours and giving yourself a window of 8 hours to consume your daily intake of food.

Some people use IF as a weight loss tool. Which, is...fine. A study in 2015 (Johnstone A.) stated that most people try IF with the purpose of losing weight. Credit where it is due, there is a wealth of evidence which shows that it can reduce calorie intake, increase your metabolic rate and can reduce insulin resistance to fight against type 2 diabetes. Awesome. 

HOWEVER, me personally, I think we’re missing the boat a little bit here. I think IF should be used as a digestion aid. In the medical field and science, the stomach is now commonly thought of as the second brain 🧠 which is a whole other conversation that one day I’ll address. In my personal experience, implementing IF the day after I have had a cheat meal, or eat a significant amount of food, or consumed a product containing gluten, which I have an intolerance to. 

That’s what I did on Sunday, and I planned for it. As you know, Saturday night I went into London to the reopening of one of my favourite restaurants. A lot of amazing but inflammatory food was consumed (I do not regret it one bit fyi). In the past, I would have been a write off for at least the next 36 hours. Bloating, pain, nausea, fatigue and a bad stomach. Since implementing my own take on IF, things have definitely improved. 

Maybe this is an idea for my dissertation? Interesting 🤔 

I suggest reading up on IF for yourself. I don’t think I have enough characters to also explain exactly what I do, so I’ll save that for another post. IF is very interesting and has quite a bit of research behind it. It’s something I think a lot of people would benefit from. Just make sure your sources are good, because there is a whole lot of CRAP out there on meal timings and telling you to eat 500 calories in one day 🙃🔫

I went to the pub with my best friends on Saturday and had the best day, I spent yesterday doing some apprenticeship work in the sun and had a proper lazy afternoon, had such a good weekend💙

Just a reminder that if you had an unhealthy weekend, didnt workout, had too many wines or takeaways,felt demotivated or didnt move from bed, its okay, don't think about it again, or make yourself feel worse, use it to motivate you this week to smash your workouts. Did you make all your progress eating salads for 1 weekend? no, so you won't lose all your progress by having one unhealthy weekend. Of course if you are doing this regularly it will slow down your progress but remember its important to enjoy life and not to beat yourself up if you do have one or two days off track, dont let it affect your attitude for this week, Its now the start of a new week, write down some goals, plan your workouts, do things that make you happy and have the best week💛
