  • Okay so... ya gal did some Romanian Deadlifts! 

Like I said yesterday, little baby steps of progress. 

Not only did I do this for one of the first times, I did it with two people on either side of me! Not only this, I took my first ever selfie in the gym mirror! Rite of passage..?

As you can see the highest weight I used as well as the barbell itself is 7.5kg. As I am getting used to this movement and it’s technique as well as not using weights in months as I get into the swing of the gym, I am not overworking my muscles incorrectly which could end up in injury. 

On many fitness Instagram’s you may see high weights such as 20-30kg+ and you may doubt yourself with the weights you’re using. This is your fitness journey specific to you and not anyone else- you are not weak, you are good enough and strength comes in progress and determination. 

Keep at it guys and keeping trying to push outside of your comfort zones at the gym!

  • YOU AND YOUR BODY ON HOLIDAY

Holidays are a beautiful time of the year and I consider enjoyment as the most important aspect when I am away.
.
It is advisable to look after our bodies, whilst enjoying some relaxation, however this process will be different for everyone, as each individual has their own health/fitness goals. 
.
I like to keep a balance between indulgence and my usual routine of "healthy eating/exercise. I utilise the two aspects below in order to do so:
.
1. Indulge moderately:
I am aware of how much food/drinks my body can handle. I am also aware of how much energy my body needs. Taking both of these things into consideration, I will find the balance between having my favourites and ensuring that I get enough nutrients. You could play around with calories, macronutrients or both- what matters is that you find a way, which works well for you.
. 
2. Move in whatever way I can:
For some people, exercise itself is holiday. They do bike rides, hiking or other types of sports, staying active. The key is to stay active. Walking is a brilliant low-intensity way to exercise, explore and burn the calories. Bodyweight exercises, HIIT workouts, watersports - any exercise is great. Of course, you may have the option to go to the gym, in which case you could carry on training there, should you wish to do so. As for me, there's no gyms nearby, thus I do home workouts and a lot of walking.
.
These are my top two tips but of course, there's many more. 
I hope this gives some sort of guidance for you. I am always really happy to help/give advice where I can, so please feel free to reach out should you have any mindset or fitness related questions.

Every day is a lottery that you may or may no win, but unlike a lottery, if you start to lose, you can take action to still win at something! The important thing is just to give each workout session, work day, school day, social situation or meeting your all since that’s honestly all you can do. You’ll never have 100% control I’ve eyes situation, but you can control how you react and what you make of it so just put your best foot forward and work hard to make things the best they can be!!

Wasn’t quite feeling it this morning...back was sore from yesterday’s pull ups and I didn’t feel like throwing my CNS in the deep fryer w deadlifts again😂! Yet, as happens all too often with me, once it got into the gym, I just turned on that mindset of “I gotta just throw it all out there” and ended up hitting 240 for 5 twice and 230 three times! Of course my back and glutes were fried after that and squats were a struggle even after lowering the weight even more to hit depth, but I bounced back from that and hit a rep pr of 100 for 12 on Bulgarian Split Squats. Overall, not a bad day even though my CNS is basically just dust at this point🤷🏻‍♂️

Sometimes I don’t get so lucky with the weight on my off days or the workout starts out sucky and ends off only a bit better. Yet, sometimes the weight I can use will go up and down from exercise to exercise like today and sometimes I’ll hit major prs. What matters for me is that I stick to it and don’t throw a whole workout down the drain if I don’t feel like going for it!

  • sorry..2 bikini pics in a row. Who am I ??😫 I want to thank everyone for the positive comments on my last post. My goal with this page is positivity and honesty. When I first started it, it was strictly fitness. Although fitness is still very much part of my life, I like to talk about other things — such as struggles and insecurities, things that a lot of us who are into fitness deal with. I also want to be a source of motivation. I want to be a badass and the best version of myself, while also learning to love myself in the process.   • Just a reminder that you can do hard things. Tired of me talking about my exam after you already saw like 45 things about it on my story yesterday? Same - but I’m giving myself 48 hours to be obnoxious so here I go😇
Passing these tests meant a lot to me because I SUCK at standardized test taking. The SAT, AP tests, final exams that cover a ton of information - not my thing. I can master 1-2 topics at a time before stuff starts to exit my brain. So taking on 4 different tests each 4 hours long with a 50% pass rate covering a ton of material was like… intimidating.

Overcoming other goals in my life made me prepared to take this one on. Battling preconceived notions that you’re “just bad at things and that’s how it’s always going to be” is a toxic af mindset, but I see it all the time in fitness as well
“I just can’t lose the weight”
“I just can’t say no to eating the whole package of cookies”
“I just can’t go to the gym consistently”
It would have been very easy for me to say “I just can’t complete a prep” or “I can’t start coaching other women” or, in this case “I can’t do well at standardized test taking”

You might have to work harder than others, get more help, study harder, or go through it longer, but you just aren’t “that way.” Chapter 1 page 1 of any self improvement book out there is change your damn mindset. That’s enough tough love for today ok ilysm
