  • Introducing Parkour into U.K. schools has to be one of my proudest moments. Meeting @dan_edwardes @francois.forrest and @eugeneminogue at the very beginning is the reason why Parkour is what it is today!
True Leaders! True Inspiration!
I was looking for activities and sports to inspire students who just weren’t into the ‘traditional’ offer! I believe there is a sport or activity for everyone and it’s our responsibility to find that sport or activity. Parkour did just that for so many of our students. The students gained an identity. They found their tribe. The group knew that it was potentially dangerous given the headlines of ‘jumping from building to building’, yet we all knew Parkour was far more than this! It became about showing up, dedicating yourself to detail, perfecting the individual movements, getting in that space where it required full attention. Outside classes were essential and spending time outside in those ‘no ball’ games areas! The nanny state was rife, yet the trust required to make decisions was fundamental in the mindset of every student.

.... The relationships and true friendships built in those early classes were increadible. Taking part in the documentary’Jump Westminster’, students performing at the premiere on The Mall, National press, CBS news in America and being quoted in The Wall Street Journal. @cbsnews All because we said YES to movement opportunities for the students. The growth, the development of the students involved is difficult to gauge, but incredibly significant. I’m sure it has shaped the young peoples minds, behaviours and approach to life subsequently. Resilience, commitment, mental well-being all because we said yes and took a chance on doing something new.

  • Education is broken? To facilitate learners has never been broken, just needs to be realigned! Inspire the students to love your subject. That’s it! Simple! Teachers need to be passionate about their subjects but realise the links to real life is what the students are after! How does it relate to them? Application is essential. Regardless of the content the application towards wanting to understand and apply the knowledge is the key...

👉🏻Trade your EXPECTATIONS ↩️ of situations and people↪️ for APPRECIATION and the whole game changes in a moment!

  • Chief listening officer.

I'd certainly pay for one of those. Wouldn't we all? Well, looking at their average salary most of us couldn't not afford one but we could definitely worth checking if we could be one.

Another cool sounding job title that did not exist 10 years ago.

What do they do?
They listen. They listen to customers and staff via surveys, focus groups, social media and other new and innovative ways.

How much do they earn? Anything from £61,000- £140,000 that is $80,000-$185,000 per year.

What skills do they need? Excellent active listening skills, strong analytical abilities, effective persuasive abilities.

Question for all of us educators and parents: How do we nurture these skills? Because those would be relevant to a range of posts.

  • When you’re investing in your #education, you want to be sure that you’re #learning from the #best, and at @swinburne and @swinburnesarawak, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with award-winning #lecturers and industry-engaged #researchers who are at the forefront of their fields🕵🏻👩🏻‍🏫

#Futureproof is the latest #buzzword 🐝

#Futureproofing your #career means that you will always have a #job no matter what happens in the #future, and in my view, a #business degree is the best way to do that because all companies and industries that want to make #money essentially need business graduates, such as #accountants to oversee financial health and transactions, #humanresource professionals to manage employee wellbeing, and #marketers to generate #revenue.

You can do a double major in business through our Bachelor of Business, which means that you can acquire skills to be, for example, a human resource professional and a marketer at the same time.

You can also start your ACCA (4 papers) or CPA (6 papers) as early as Year 2 in your business degree (accounting).

You can also prepare to fast track yourself in climbing the career ladder with our Master of Business Administration (International) that could be completed as quickly as one and a half years, and following that, to enroll directly into our PhD using the research training that you will acquire through our MBAi (p/s: most MBAs aren’t as cool as our MBAi to allow you to do this)😎

If we can learn something from the past, I reckon that now is the best time to pursue #highereducation, be it at the #undergraduate or #postgraduate level, because you would really want to size job and promotion opportunities once the market recovers from the catastrophic #covid19 pandemic.

So what are you waiting for? Start sowing seeds today so that you can enjoy having fruits tomorrow👨🏻‍🎓👩🏻‍🎓

  • There are two paths you can take on your financial journey....the free path or the pain-free path.

I took the free route, the DIY option. I spent the last 4 years, evenings and weekends, geeking out on personal finance blogs, podcasts and even going as far as attending a financial retreat!

I found some terrible (and dangerous) advice along the way, made many mistakes, I tested strategies and systems, some that worked, some that didn't. In the end I did eventually get to a place where I am in total control of my money.....but it took a lot of time.

Therefore I wanted to create a pain-free route for others to follow. Distil this huge world of personal finance (most of which is unnecessary) down to the core essentials you need to make meaningful changes to your financial future. Help you avoid the time, money and energy that I spent to get where I am today. If this resonate with you, hit the link in my bio and set up a free call to learn more about how I can help you master your money and live your best life.

  • Jo and her family have just moved into a bigger house, and the outgoings have gone up quite a lot. She’s the main breadwinner in the family, and she’s starting to worry that if anything were to happen to her, her husband wouldn’t be able to cope financially, and there would be extra undue stress and pressure to provide for him and their children. She had a look online, and saw there were various types of insurance she could put in place – it was a bit of a minefield, and she wasn’t really sure what was right for her.
Life insurance is a financial product designed to pay out money when the policyholder dies. It’s there to help those left behind to cope financially. There are different types of life insurance to cater for a range of personal circumstances:
▪️TERM LIFE INSURANCE – this pays out a lump sum if the policyholder dies during a specific period of time. This period of time is called the policy term. It’s often aligned to a debt, such as a mortgage or aligned with children’s school/university fees so you can be certain that the insurance will help to cover these debts.
▪️WHOLE OF LIFE INSURANCE – this pays out when the policyholder dies. It’s not tied to a specific time span. The fact these pay out no matter when you die, means they are a lot more expensive than term life insurance.
▪️FAMILY INCOME BENEFIT – this one is slightly different from other types of life insurance because it pays a monthly income instead of a lump sum, if you die during the policy term. The monthly income is paid until the end of the policy term. The regular income can be used to cover existing monthly expenses and additional costs such as childcare.
Each of these have a different objective, and are suited to individual circumstances, so it’s important to speak with a financial professional so you can decide what is right for you.

  • Condemned

So when we first viewed the house, it was early Easter and very warm, so we saw the gas fires and asked if they worked. The Ex-Grovers told us they did, we didn’t ask them to turn them on, Rookie Mistake, we were so taken back by the potential and the garden 🌲🌳 🌲🌳 🌲🌳 🌲🌳 🌲🌳 🌲🌳
Once we moved in our friend Ian came over to see our new place and brought a gift, smoke pellets to test the fire. He looked at the fire and laughed. He wouldn’t even turn them on.
Later we called in British Gas in to look at the fires, they laughed, they were shocked people actually used the fires, they told us they were dangerous Condemned placed warning ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ stickers all over them.

My mum really feels the cold, seriously when I was a child and had friends over the hearing would be on full blast!! My friends glasses would steam up, she likes it HOT 🥵

So first job to change the fires.
The heating system isn’t sufficient to heat our home, it’s not up to code and British doesn’t understand how and why it would have put into a house of this size. A job for another day.
So we went to @fivewaysfiresandstoves a beautiful family ran company and they changed our fire places. So now as sad as it sounds waiting for the winter to sit in front of a blazing fire 🔥 🔥 🔥

  • Futureproofing

This is an important post...take a minute to let this one soak in.

Futureproofing. It’s an important concept for all photographers and it’s the core of what we do here.

But what does it mean?

Let’s start with a definition. Futureproofing is defined as anticipating the future and developing methods to minimize the stresses of future events.

You may say. ‘I photograph weddings, I love what I’m doing, and this is more of a passion than a job.’

My response would be, ‘YES, And let’s keep it that way!’

Any passion that we transform into a career has a foundation of joy. Deep down, it comes from a place of service and that fills our businesses with meaning and fulfillment.

And as our careers mature over time, when money, time demands, sales, visual consistency, branding, and marketing pressures all come into play, our relationship with our business and passions evolve in ways we cannot predict.

If we’re not careful we can find ourselves diving head first into the deep end of a passion project without learning how to swim first.

That’s why we talk about how the mental and physical challenges we face as photographers can lead to burn out. And most importantly talk about the specifics of how to prevent heading down that slippery slope.

By naming the challenges we face and learning from other photographers, we can pinpoint the early feelings of burn out and most importantly the reasons why we’re feeling that way.

This is furtureproofing. Identifying the potential challenges that could be faced in the future and learn how to prevent those challenges from driving us away from your passions as our businesses evolve.

So, I urge you to identify your body and mind as the most important asset you have and I to futureproof those assets with the tools we share.

Now, it’s time to share. How are you futureproofing your business?
Sharing will help someone else who’s facing a similar challenge.

  • Here are 3 ways a Money Coach can help improve your life....

✅Develop a better relationship with money

Our relationship with money as an adult, is often formed throughout our childhood. We observe our family and friends behaviours, receive advice (both good and bad) from those around us and either mimic or reject what we see. A money coach can help you shed bad money habits you may have picked up along the way, and create new ones with systems and strategies that last.

✅Help you and your partner get on the same page

The same way we might use a hammer as a tool to build a home, we use money as a tool to build our life. Many couples enter into a relationship with a different view towards money. If you want to build a life together, how you decide to deploy your money is a big part of that. Many couples find ir hard to talk about money, get on the same page, and achieve their goals. A money coach can help you sketch out a blueprint and use money as a tool to build your dream life

✅Hold you accountable!

A personal trainer can help you build a game plan, but ultimately you need to do the work. It's similar with a money coach. A money coach can help you devise a system that works best for you, and push you to take massive action. It's my job to provide you with the knowledge and the tools but ultimately you need to do the work. I am there to encourage you throughout your transformation to hold you accountable and get the results you want!

  • This is why we do what we do. (Good) design has such a massive impact on our well being - it has the power to help us to do what we need, as well as boost our mood. Too often with accessible design it's a case of 'get what you're given' and style is overlooked. We have a delightfully different approach - perfectly balancing form and function.
-
Starting here, we're going to be sharing the voices (as well as the lovely new accessible bathroom designs of course!) of our customers, like the wonderful Christine.

  • I've been a little absent on the socials over the past week or two. I dived head-first down the rabbit warren of renovation works and have only just scrambled back out. Our little investment villa in the north consumed me whole. More of that over at @ladypalmleaf 🌴

When we decided to make the move south, as whispers circled of COVID border closures, we did so in order to be closer to our eldest child who is away at boarding school. But we also chose this path with a promise of opportunity for me (work wise) as well as Nathen. Whilst we all craved a new tropical chapter in the agricultural industry, it was the right decision for our family, both personally and career wise, under shitty circumstances. Unfortunately, for me, this opportunity of work has faded away. Those who know me, know that I'm fairly driven. I've never been a great stay-at-home Mum, always having some kind of not-so-little side hustle to keep me mentally stimulated. I opened an on-farm accommodation business with a 4 month old in tow and it snow-balled from there. Having babies whilst running agri-businesses was no easy feat, but it's an accomplishment I'm proud of and has provided me with resiliance and life experience beyond measure.
.

Whilst moving into a new home, starting a garden, and renovating our villa in North Queensland has kept me busy over the past few weeks, I'm conscious of the fact that there will be a time in the very near future where I am, in fact, BORED! A time when the garden is in maintenance mode and the villa is ticking away nicely in the background. I'm very aware of my lack of ability to SIT STILL and I'm ok with it. I'm young, healthy, mostly mentally all there 🙄... Why shouldn't I contribute!? So some heavy decisions have been made in the family unit. If the work is just not there... then study it will be! A big, uncomfortable, and nerve-racking step. Off to university I go.... at 34..... #alwaysrunninglate

  • This is our sourdough. And this is our spelt. And this is us. This year Youtube and an amazing film crew came to our farm. They wanted to film what we did. They wanted to show how Youtube had helped us learn how to tackle the farming complexities when you buy a bare 100 acre farm and you haven’t grown up farming. I’m originally a zoo vet, and went on to do culinary training in France. Tim’s a former corporate executive development manager who started learning to make sourdough over 11 years ago now. We had never farmed or grown a food garden of this size. We had a lot to learn. • Spent the weekend on the floor of @hbncanada’s #CHFAeast seeing those I am fortunate enough to work with in real life, and seeing many that I otherwise only connect with virtually throughout the year. For the eleventh year, being inside all weekend was made way more fun spending it with @ry_storm, who is there making his own connections. .

It’s always great to see the brands sticking to their principles of bringing us healthy and healthier products, and it’s also gobsmacking and frustrating to see how many new healthwashed brands are arriving! .

Best NEW food from the spirited @middaysquares making a delicious product with the cleanest ingredient deck.

Welcome to Canada @hukitchen, @malkorganics, @miyokoscreamery @go_raw ...we are so glad you are here! .

WTG, @greenhousejuice for launching an organic oat milk in glass - no one needs #glyphosate in their latte! .

Can’t wait to see you in Oregon for #FutureProofing, @fire.brew!
Special thanks to @_oren @bioraw for creating a wellness space in a trade show setting and for including the amazing Ritual: UP and DOWN teas from @lemonlily x @davidnewtonwellness. I appreciate you. I know Michelle is smiling. .

If you want to be inspired by a GREAT packaging solution, check @satyaorganic’s roll-on refillable eczema skincare. .

Always love for ongoing favourites (too many to tag here but will on a @bordencommunications unblog and in @ecoparent) with a commitment to organics...it doesn’t mean everything but it should start there. .

  • That's a wrap. Officially hanging the belt up on competitive Powerlifting, at least for this year.

As I previously mentioned, the plan for this year was to focus on my business @gazfit_sc . Then COVID came around and caught a lot of us with our pants down. Like many of you, I wasn't prepared and I found myself for the most part without work.

In this period, I also made the decision to leave Adonis for various reasons, which meant that as well as having little work, I was also without a gym to go back to. I thought I would miss it, but it was just the people I missed.
Not the gym.
Not the equipment.

In the weeks that have past, I've had to play catch-up, gathering pieces for my own gym, becoming less reliant on others and further taking control of my future. I've reignited a feeling I hadn't felt for some time.

Thinking about competitive Powerlifting had just become an added stress and didn't excite me in the slightest. This decision means that now my focus can align with my priorities and improve what I have to offer to those I work with.

Will I still be training? Of course I will, I love training and the feeling it gives me.

To the future

  • Happy Sunday everyone 👋🏻It's a grey and drizzly morning here today, but we are finally getting a bit more organised in the kitchen. Our 4th pendant from garden trading has arrived so hopefully all the electrics will be finished soon. There are little post-it notes on all the switches throughout the house right now, whilst the electricians are still working, which certainly helps me figure out what they are for ...assuming they actually work or I can figure out the click sequence to use them 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'll learn it eventually I'm sure 🤷🏼‍♀️ #kitchen #kichendesign #shakercabinets #shakerkitchen #amtico #snkitchens #kitchenworldmansfield #gardentrading #cultfurniture #hedinghamconstruction #wardbroelectralltd #homeautomation #futureproofing #familyhome #housetohome #interiors #christmastree
