  • Every day you can make a conscious decision to create or do something meaningful.

If you really think deeply about it, MOTIVATION is an emotion just like happiness, sadness or anger. Motivation is your innate response when you are driven to accomplish something. What motivates you?

Here are some tips that can help you stay motivated in your job search or personal life and become the best version of yourself:

✨ Strive to be healthy in mind, body and spirit. Dedicate at least an hour a day to health and wellness. When your mind is positive and clear, everything lines up.

✨ Challenge yourself to try new things. Travel to a new place, learn a new language or cook a new cuisine. Studies have shown that when we challenge ourselves to be mentally flexible, we can be creative in finding solutions.

✨ Set new goals every week or month or year and measure success. It’s important to set a timeline when setting goals and ensuring that they’re realistic. Measuring your success can also help you appreciate your progress.

Imagine if you always have that drive to do something meaningful; each day can offer you an opportunity to be better at anything. I’m rooting for you ✨

I’d be happy to be a part of your career journey! Book your FREE 30-minute self-discovery career call with me today.

Cheers,

  • Are you planning to make a change in your career? There really is no time like the present. I hope these tips inspire you to make small steps to a better, brighter future ✨

1️⃣ Conduct a Self-Assessment and gauge your interests

2️⃣ Explore options: Seek career opportunities or go back to school

3️⃣ Create and execute your plan in motion

4️⃣ Honour your progress and aim to complete your goals

5️⃣ Embrace the change and be consistent with it

The Greek Philosopher Heraclitus put it simply “the only constant thing in the world is change.” So keep changing and growing, the world is your playground—you have the ability to reinvent yourself every single day!

When someone tells you that you’ve changed, be grateful to that person. Hopefully, it means you are thriving and evolving to the best version of you ✨ If you feel differently, decide to make positive changes and I assure you, your life will be more enriching.

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I have dedicated my time and energy to my family and our social bubble. We’ve been in some really amazing hikes with friends and I really couldn’t be more grateful. Being able to complete a trail and having the strength to climb a mountain can be very rewarding.⠀
⠀
Here are some of the things I learned during our hikes, which can be applied to your JOB SEARCH.⠀
⠀
1⃣ There is more than one way to reach the top. Be creative with your job search and go with the times in putting yourself out there. Build your LinkedIn profile and expand your network. Seek and provide positive recommendations from former bosses and colleagues. As the famous saying goes, we rise by lifting others. ⠀
⠀
2⃣ Never give up. Looking for a job or going through the interview process can be daunting and frustrating at times. The key is to always come prepared and anticipate that it’s going to be difficult at first. Nothing worth having comes easy. ⠀
⠀
3⃣ Pace yourself. The secret to completing a hike or being successful at a job interview is your breath. You can only control what’s going on inside you. Breathing also allows you to think more clearly. ⠀
⠀
4⃣ Respect your progress. If you’ve done the Grouse Grind in Vancouver, you’d realize that reaching the first quarter of the hike was magical. The same applies to your job search, when you get shortlisted for testing or a job interview, celebrate that milestone... you earned it!⠀
⠀
5⃣ Be in the moment. Be grateful to your interviewers (or Human Resources) who provided you the foot to the door. Remember your tracks and the people who helped you along the way. Gratitude, when lived fully, can make you appreciate everything and everyone in your life. ⠀
⠀
Embrace the experience and even if you don’t complete the hike or get that dream job, thank yourself for having the guts to try. ⠀
I’m rooting for your career success and I hope you keep climbing!

  • I got a phone call from a loved one yesterday, asking if I would be interested in being her live-in nanny for the next six months. They thought of me, she said, because I love kids, used to be a school teacher, and… you know… I don’t work all that much. “I’m sure we could work around your yoga teaching schedule,” she said, “we’d just need you about 7 hours a day.”
.
.
To be fair, there are a lot of part-time yoga teachers. I am just not one of them. Also to be fair, it is very difficult to make a living as a full-time yoga teacher - I am doing it, but I am essentially living paycheck to paycheck. This is okay with me, because I am fortunate enough not to have any debt, and to have a safety net, should I need it. I also know that, as I continue to dedicate myself to this career, I will continue to make a more comfortable living - but I need actually to continue to dedicate myself to this career, not take another full-time job that has nothing to do with my long-term career goals.
.
.
So to anyone out there who is curious what being a full-time yoga teacher actually looks like, here is what a typical work-week looks like for me:
.
.
8 drop-in classes (11 hrs)
6 private sessions (6 hrs)
Creating IG content (5 hrs)
Planning, writing, & emailing with new clients (7.5 hrs)
My own asana, meditation, or movement practice (7 hrs)
.
Total working hours/ week: 36.5 hrs
.
Once teacher training starts, my teaching hours will go up by 12 hrs/ week (every other week), so every other week from Oct-June, I’ll be working 48.5 hrs/ week.
.
And while we’re on the topic of transparency, I’ll also share with you that last year was the first year that I made enough to live on from “just” teaching yoga:
Income for 2019: $49,628
.

  • We’re not expected or required to know it all, especially when we’re just learning. The struggle, the frustration, the “ARGH!!” moments, the lost sleep… All of that’s expected. And none of it means we’re stupid, or incapable. It just means we’re not to the point where “ARGH!” turns into “AHA!”
.
If everything was easy, you would be bored. A challenge keeps your mind working to look for better ways. Once you find a better way, you share your knowledge. Difficult is only a state of mind. After learning, difficult becomes easy.
.
“All things are Difficult before they are Easy,” reminds us that while we may not know exactly what we’re doing, we will eventually figure it out. Pain turns to progress, expletives into experience, aggravation into ability. Learning is that process, and life is learning. Let’s not be so hasty to give up just because the first attempt didn’t go as well as we’d like. We can always try again.

  • Strangest time to find a new marketing position in the travel industry after years of looking? During a global Pandemic. #Blessed seems appropriate! 🙌🏼⁣
⁣
The last year of my life has been nothing short of a whirlwind! I’ve let some people and teams go and joined others for a new adventure. Excited to be making stronger ties in travel personally and professionally. 💙⁣
⁣
And, as always, I’m counting down the seconds until I can be back in The Bahamas! This time, I’m thinking a longer stint is required. 🇧🇸⁣
