  • Um pouquinho do #ManningPark e redondezas. O Manning é outro lugar maravilhoso pra acampar, principalmente com família! Várias trilhas e camping spots bem grandes. Várias trilhas, rios e lugares lindos em volta. Vimos muita vida selvagem, inclusive esse urso fofinho aí! 🐻 ❤️

  • Early season rambling with the one and only @ben_shewan early last month. Some of you will recognize this location. Since the landslide last year, a large segment of the summit block has disappeared. At the summit we hung our heads over the edge, staring down at what once was and is no longer. I felt particularly insignificant, knowing that three times before I had stood on the very ground that gave way. Since the slide there have been “closures” and many who speak authoritatively of risk in the area. Their opinions are as meaningless as the science behind them. For the slide to have occurred in the first place would require it to have been unstable for many years prior. That instability was not recognized by any of many “experts”, yet in the aftermath of the first slide, “experts” have identified another segment that is “likely to give out”. That segment is of identical appearance, angle, and elevation as the previous slides origins were. It is as obvious as can be. This common theme of reverting to the opinions of experts as a means of absolving oneself of responsibility pertains to other domains as well. Of comical value is how infrequently these experts’ presence is often noticed ahead of time. To me this suggests their roles are sometimes more an exercise in damage control; taking advantage of fear in the aftermath of events to justify their existence instead of having the competence to predict events or have any constructive feedback that goes beyond common sense. Rant over. In summary, it is of far more interest to me personally when individuals are able to defend their thoughts and actions based on their own experiences and individual analysis of relevant factors. To defer responsibility for such things is to make ones self utterly replaceable in that context.

  • nothin’ but smiles over here when that wildlife bucket list gets checked off ☺️💃🏼
⟡
whale watching in ucluelet was awesome with just one grey whale, but when we heard orcas were spotted in tofino we just had to go out and give it another go. not only did we see about 12 grey whales all around us, but we also saw a humpback and, as we were coming back, cruised alongside the most majestic male orca. at @tofinowhalecentre they call that a hat trick. 🐳🐋🐳 tofino, you are everything!!!! ✨

  • Cheesin’ in the mountains 💛🏔

Last week I started a 5 day trek along the Berg Lake Trail in Mount Robson Provincial Park. This was my face pretty much 99% of the time. I’ve only ever done 1 or 2 night backpacking trips until now. Spending 4 nights and 5 days along that trail was one of the most challenging and rewarding things I’ve ever done!
-
I’ve got a ton of stories to share with you along with countless photos documenting this trek. It’ll probably take me a few days to finish posting all the stories but I’ll start now.
-
I also want to say hello and welcome to everyone who is new here. Thanks for following along and I can’t wait to share my adventures with you! Feel free to introduce yourself and tell me where you’re from 🥰😁🧀

  • One year engaged and one month (and 5 days) until we say I do...
While I'm excited to marry my best friend, this year of planning has not been easy. We've gone through all the highs and lows, going from Plan A all the way to Plan Z to keep up with all the changes, and trying to get some kind of control over a situation that's just completely out of control. And to top it all off, I can't help but feel selfish sometimes and overwhelmed with a sense guilt for trying to be happy and plan a celebration when the world is in chaos.
2020 will go down in history for all the bad and ugly but there was also some good. And we shouldn't forget about the good. This year has put so much into perspective and has taught us what is truly important in life. We've also learned to adapt and roll with the punches (boy have we ever!)
I can now say, with absolute certainty, we are ready to start our lives together. I cannot wait to marry Tommy and face the world and whatever else it has to throw our way. 2020 will proudly be OUR year and we will cherish everything else that came with it.
