This bodyweight circuit requires no equipment and no gym. Very little space required! If you only workout a few days a week, total body workouts would be great for you!  This efficiently has both strength and cardio exercises. Remember, fat/calorie burn depend on your level of intensity and the amount of rests taken. YOU have all the control!   • I always love seeing my heart rate ranges when I feed my body movement! Over the past 30 days my resting heart rate has also decreased! Changing my mindset and the way I have been orientating my goals has been very positive and makes me feel successful! For example, I have been seeing exercise as a form of celebrating my body, rather than punishing it for being or looking a certain way! Trying to look at what I have rather than what I don't! What negative self talk do you hear often, how could you rephrase it to be positive? You got this beautiful soul!

No amount of exercise can overcome a bad diet - especially if you are aiming to lose weight. But, research has also shown that total abstinence and restrictive diets fail time and  time again. 
If it feels extreme it won’t last!

Today we are looking at a lower body circuit (one of many). To add intensity,  complete with weights, do not takes breaks in between or up the reps/sets!

  • I just wanted to clarify a few things. Back 2 Me is a weight loss program designed for Mums. I love to fill my pages with helpful workouts, nutrition advice & just my day to day work/mum life. I am here to help those mummas that have made the CHOICE to WANT to lose weight after having their babies. A postpartum mothers body is something to be celebrated. Your body has given you the most precious gift - your children. Every lump, bump & mark is there bc you grew life inside you. ❤️❤️❤️ Every single mother should be so proud of what their bodies have achieved. I am NOT here to tell anybody they SHOULD lose weight, or that their postpartum bodies aren’t good enough. I am here purely as a source of SUPPORT for those that CHOOSE to & WANT to lose weight after having their babies. I myself felt very lost after having my babies with regard to SAFELY losing weight. I didn’t know what I could & couldn’t do. I wanted someone to help guide me in the safest way possible & help me lose weight, feel fit & be more energised again. if you’ve been following me awhile, you know that I never do a leg day without glute activation! IT IS SO IMPORTANT! think of glute activation as a way of warming up your glutes to make sure they are firing properly to get the biggest bang for your buck outta your main compound movements — this can also help make sure your glutes are the main muscle mover in the main glute exercises instead of having you quads take over, this is key for glute growth! 🙌🏽 the great thing about these exercises is that you could also perform these at home as a glute workout if you don’t have access to any gym equipment at the moment! you can also use glute activation exercises as glute burnouts at the end of your workouts if you really wanna get a good burn 🥵 also, did you know that many knee injuries/problems are a result of weak glutes??? so if you have knee probs you better start incorporating these movements!! regardless of what you are using these movements for, you will without a doubt reap the benefits of glute activation 💫

if you’re using this as a glute activation warmup do 2-3 rounds or if you’re using it as an at home workout do 5-6 rounds of the following exercises:
• banded glute kickbacks: 10 each leg
• banded side steps: 15 each way
• banded hip thrusts: 20 reps
• single leg hip thrusts: 10 each leg
• banded abductions: 20 reps

I’ve been working out with strictly dumbbells for well over a year now and I have gotten into (what I would call) the best shape of my life!⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Training at home is what works during this season of my life.  Right now, I’m in the process of growing a family, I’m in between having babies (no, I’m not pregnant), and this is simply what works for me and what I ENJOY! ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
I’ve developed an at-home workout program that has given me results and has allowed me to build strength and endurance.  I’m able to keep my body guessing with a variety of workouts and exercises!  I can still lift “heavy” on my resistance training days, and grab lighter weights for compound movements or even on higher intensity training days.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Our bodies are SMART, over time they will begin to recognize if you’re using the same weight or doing the same movements or eating the same number of a calories per day.  That’s usually when your body will hit a plateau because it’s USED to everything you’re doing.  So, eventually you might have to make some tweaks to your diet, workouts, reps&sets, etc. in order to break out of that plateau! ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
So yes, working out from home will require you to get creative over TIME, but it CAN lead to results, especially if you’re following a well designed program!  Or, maybe, at home workouts are just a great starting point for you until you’re feeling more comfortable to walk into a gym setting.⠀⠀

But hear me out. You don’t want to go all out at first because that could actually set you back even more. ⁣

Lastly, check in with yourself. BE RATIONAL. Be kind to yourself. If you’ve gained a few lbs or no longer have visible abs, it’s OK. ⁣

Setting unrealistic, drastic goals right now or cutting calories way too low will most likely backfire. ⁣

    Alright, so I know you probably want to go balls to the wall with your eating and training...⁣

    I get it.⁣

    You haven’t trained in months, been sitting on your ass, doing the occasional at-home workout in between snacks, and maybe if you’re like me, you’ve even gained a few lbs?⁣

    But hear me out. You don’t want to go all out at first because that could actually set you back even more. ⁣

    𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘱𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴:⁣

    𝟏. 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝟐-𝟑 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝. This might mean gradually incorporating more nutritious foods, getting more steps in, or going to sleep and waking up at a reasonable time. ⁣

    𝟐. 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞/𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝟒-𝟔 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬. Don’t rush it. ⁣

    𝟑. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. Most likely you have lost some muscle & strength and therefore not able to lift as heavy as you did before. ALL GOOD. Majority of us are in the same boat. ⁣


    Lastly, check in with yourself. BE RATIONAL. Be kind to yourself. If you’ve gained a few lbs or no longer have visible abs, it’s OK. ⁣


    Setting unrealistic, drastic goals right now or cutting calories way too low will most likely backfire. ⁣

  • I HATED HOW I LOOKED.

I can’t tell you why but, during my workout the other day, I couldn’t shake the feeling of BLEH.

My body felt squishy.

I try my best to LOVE MY BODY, and appreciate all it’s done for me. But, I gotta be real with you- the other day was NOT that day.

I spent my workout attempting to snap myself out of the funk.

But- despite all the ‘body positivity’ quotes I strung together in my mind, nothing clicked.

My body STILL felt squishy.

But then I realized two things:

1) WHO CARES IF MT BODY IS SQUISHY? That’s how bodies FEEL... unless I’m striving to look like a juiced-up body builder who works out 4hrs a day and lives on boiled chicken breast and asparagus.

-Squishy body’s are better to SQUEEZE when hugging friends.

-Squishy body’s have FLEXIBILITY.

-Squishy body’s have CURVES and CHANGE SHAPE that look beautiful.

-Squishy is not BAD.

2) I DON’T HAVE TO LIKE MY BODY 100%. Honestly, as much as I’d like to live in the BODY POSITIVITY world- I’m just not there.

-I’m not saying I HATE MY BODY. I’m just saying that I don’t want to CONSTANTLY feel pressured to be POSITIVE.

-I’d rather just be neutral, and not body-image focused ALL THE TIME.

Because- gotta be honest- as much as I appreciate my body during *certain* times of the month (aka AUNT FLO times), sometimes I’m just NOT. I’m in pain, cramping, bloated, etc, and all I want is cookies, sweats, and to NOT like the bloat for a night or two.

Our relationship with our body is like any other- you should LOVE your body, but it’s OK not to LIKE it ALL THE TIME. We go through phases of love and not-like and annoyed and grateful, and it’s super important to FEEL ALL THOSE FEELS.

Like waves- the FEELS will come and go. And it’s important to FEEL THROUGH versus AVOID.

  • First (legal) concert vs first sober concert.

The picture on the left popped up on my Timehop the other day. The first thing I remembered was how hungover I was the day after. I missed para work, summer school class, and work at 5. I couldn’t get off the couch unless it was to throw up. I was so blacked by the time Def Leppard came out that I don’t remember anything. Snapchat wasn’t a thing back then so I couldn’t remember the night by watching my story the next day. I had a disposable camera for crying out loud!! 🤣 I spent a million on tickets, drinks, and lost money by missing work. For what? A blur of a night??

My first sober concert was weird. I was new to not drinking. I watched everyone around me progressively black out before anyone took the stage.  But then, I was able to be present, sing along, and remember everything, and get up early the next day for the drive back home. I spent a little money on good seats, soaked up every minute, got some bomb pics, didn’t lose/spend any more money, and I felt refreshed the next day. Now THAT’s wayyyy worth it.

I don’t judge anyone for drinking or not drinking for that matter.... I just have experienced both and know that being sober way outweighs being blacked for me. I don’t bounce back from hangovers quick anymore. I do NOT miss wasting the whole next day feeling miserable. With that being said..... CAN WE BRING BACK CONCERTS ALREADY??
