Its no coincidence that I’m in that middle bit of my cycle, between my period and ovulation. ⁣

Did you know that the first half of your cycle - the follicular phase - is when you’re likely feeling your best? 👌🏻Physically, mentally and emotionally, your hormones are working for you. ⁣

Track your cycle and you’ll see a pattern. It’s easy - there are plenty of apps, use your phone or you just a good ol’ fashioned paper diary. Record how long your cycle is and how you feel each day - in your workouts as well as just in yourself (good, bad, strong, bloated, hungry, hangry, sexy? (Your cycle, and more specifically your hormones, play a huge part in this). ⁣

  • My coach @london_fitness_guy set me a challenge to go for a walk today. 🌟 This was a huge deal for me as I’ve not left the house for 4 months.. I’ve been shielding. Not gonna lie, I almost didn’t go. I could feel myself panicking but then I thought feck it, woman up, just do it and I did! 🙌🏼 But I didn’t just walk did I.. the walk turned into a jog, the jog turned into a run, the run turned into a sprint and now I’m a nice shade of beetroot 🥵 but I feel like a legend! So my wisdomous words for today are.. feel the fear and do it anyway 💪🏼 #yougotthis

A good strategy is to tell people what you’re hearing them say. It helps them either confirm or refute what you’re hearing, and might help get clarity on whether or not your hormones are creating a lens of negativity and anxiety.

Communicating about your hormones is essential. There are some great studies on putting male partners through a crash course on the menstrual cycle. The results? The women had less PMS. The couples could communicate better, and women reported their overall experience as better. If you feel misunderstood, take action to get understood. It will help 💕.

  • As the 1 year anniversary of my surgery looms closer, I recognise how far I’ve come. I completely put myself on the back-burner before this. I have been guilty of that for most of this year also. But it isn’t about that- as I posted straight after surgery- healing isn’t linear. We have ups and downs and pain and painless days. It’s about honouring that. Look back and see how far you’ve come over time, I bet you’ll be proud of yourself 🥰

  • We’ve spent most of the last year trying to grow our family. As each month passes, the journey feels heavier as hope fades a little more and disappointment grows. And honestly, the toil this has taken on my mental health the past few months is something I never expected. 

This morning has been hard. Maybe it’s been hard for you too. But I pray that today you would feel comforted, seen, and loved, and that you’d find hope and joy for the journey ahead.

This is a TOUGH HIIT you guys, and I didn’t record any modifications today, sorry!  Do what feels best for you and your body. Take out the jumps, lower the planks to your forearms, fall to your knees for the push-ups.. get creative!⠀

  • The world needs your presence and light now more than ever - let’s not waste precious energy on food fears and obsessions.
.
I spent the past couple of weeks at ❤️home❤️ in Cincinnati, Ohio and I knoooww that spending time with family and friends does my hormones (and my heart!) a whole lotta good.
.
I celebrated my birthday at home, and celebrated seeing my loved ones for the first time since Christmas (!!) - so naturally, that meant a lot of absolutely delicious foods were around more often than usual.
.
I remember a time when I would’ve stressed tf out about the sugar and calories in the birthday cake, and in reality, I KNOW that the stress hurt my hormones more than any food could.
.
Eating a delicious meal while relaxing with loved ones is nourishing, hands down.
.
Nutrition MATTERS, but so does slowing down, savoring the experience, enjoying your company, and feeling present and at peace around food ✨

What’s your favorite hometown food?! Mine is @graeters ice cream 🙌 ... and you better believe I had some while I was home!

✨ I can’t exercise once I’m’ pregnant. ⁣
⁣
𝗙𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗲 (typically). Women who are physically active and exercise before pregnancy can usually continue the activity during pregnancy. Barring any obstetric or medical complications, pregnant women are usually encouraged to continue or start safe exercises. ⁣
⁣
✨I’m eating for two now so I have to eat double. ⁣
⁣
𝗦𝗢 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗲! I hear this all the time. You only need about an extra ~400 calories a day during pregnancy. (More or less depending on your starting BMI). Even with that your focus should still be a healthy and well balanced diet. Yes you can indulge those cravings...but in moderation.⁣
⁣
✨I have to adjust my exercise routine now that I’m pregnant. ⁣
⁣
𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗘. Because of the changes in your body you may need to modify your current exercises. (Ex: eliminate HIIT, run slower and for shorter distance, prenatal yoga instead of regular yoga, modification of certain positions etc)⁣
⁣
✨Exercise will help me maintain a healthy pregnancy weight gain. ⁣
⁣
𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗘. Along with a well balanced healthy diet, exercise and just being active in general can help you to gain weight at a healthy pace. In addition to that, it has been shown to decrease risk of complications like gestational diabetes!⁣
⁣
Of course, every pregnancy is different and restrictions may apply to yours. As always, talk to your OB and make sure you and your pregnancy are healthy enough to exercise before starting anything.

  • Since the gyms are opening up I decided to make a post about how I make the most out of each workout 🌸💫

1. I ALWAYS plan my workout beforehand. I used to never do this & just went with whatever was free to use at the time but I am so much more focused & motivated when I start my workout w a schedule 💡

2. Lessen rest-time⌛️.More recently, due to the circumstances, I’ve made changes in the time I workout for. I lessen my rest-time in between sets which results in an efficient session with increased intensity🔥 never goin back to my 3 hour sessions 😅

3. I ensure mind-muscle connection. Like I mentioned in my story, mind to muscle connection is the K E Y to muscle growth. When you focus on the muscle you’re working- you’ll achieve better quality contractions in that muscle group which leads to #gainz 

4. Most importantly...where would we be without music. Keep a fire playlist on you at all times to keep you hype✨✨

I was so strong, bold, and brave in that moment.
In the past year, I’ve been struggling to regain that confidence and composure, not just to have with training & racing, but to have those qualities in life. 
Trying to hunt that superwoman down so I can be her when I take 3 National board exams all within a week of each other...GULP...starting next week.
😳🙄👩🏼‍⚕️ 🏃🏼‍♀️
