Das Gefühl für meinen Körper, insbesondere meine Weiblichkeit, hat sich mit meiner Diagnose verändert. Wo vor ein paar Monaten eigentlich "nur" mein Uterus, meine Eierstöcke, meine Vulva und Vagina - also für mich das Sinnbild meiner Weiblichkeit - ihren Platz hatten, nistete sich ein schwarzes, großes Ungetüm ein. Unvorsehbar, rücksichtslos und gnadenlos. Was vor einiger Zeit noch schutzbedürftig war, ist plötzlich zur Ursache geworden, Schutz zu suchen. Es fühlt sich an, als hätte ich diesen Part meines Körpers einfach ausradiert. Meine Weiblichkeit ist mit dem Schlucken der Hormone in unerreichbare Ferne gerückt. Zusammen mit meiner Libido reiten sie dem Sonnenuntergang entgegen.

Für eine Weile war sogar alles, was ich mit diesem Bereich verband: Zorn, Enttäuschung, Unverständnis, Schmerz. An ein liebevolles Miteinander war lange Zeit überhaupt nicht zu denken. Wir haben gezankt, geschrien und uns gegenseitig auseinander genommen.

Aber Schritt für Schritt nähern wir uns wieder an. Ab und zu tauschen wir sogar ein vorsichtiges 'Na, wie geht's?' aus. Wieder komplett in meine Weiblichkeit zu finden, wird eine lange Reise. Aber das ist es wert, oder etwa nicht?

Does anyone else experience vertigo postpartum? I did with Aspen and eventually cured it with going vegan. I'm not longer vegan after two years (haven't been for a couple months) and I'm not experiencing constant vertigo again. I'm not sure if it's related to what I'm eating, caffeine or hormones but it's actually really difficult to function day to day. My depth perception is off, I'm at risk of falling as I'm unsteady, I feel nauseous and just the constant dizzy/spinning is incredibly frustrating.

  • This is a question I ask myself every morning before I start my day. Recently I started to journal and write the three things I’m grateful for. It’s so important to practice gratitude daily, especially during these times we are currently living. I encourage you to take a piece of paper and write down what you’re grateful for each morning. Read it quietly to yourself, say it out loud, or simply leave it in your journal as a friendly reminder for you in the future. Mental health is so key on our journey to overall health. Practicing gratitude for what we do have rather than what we don’t have has helped me stay balanced and in control of my anxiety, which has wreaked havoc on my hormones. Stay tuned for my next post which will be all about how I found out I wasn’t as healthy as I thought. The problem turned out to be a deeper rooted issue than just weight gain. Weight gain was just a symptom! #myhealthjourney

  • I was sure I would get the 5 of swords or wands today. I mean ... I wasn’t sure I would pull it but I felt the 5 of wands and swords energy boiling inside me. It’s 3 days before my period and my hormones are starting creating space for this energies to conquer my mind. So when I pulled the #fiveofswords I just smiled because ... well... the Tarot always know a lot about me and my energy. So today I won’t let fear and negativity win over love, compassion and kindness. I will be  gentle toward myself and others and I will think twice before telling or doing or writing something I could later regret. Namaste 🙏 :)

  • 🥬 The warmer months are coming and there is nothing better than a yummy, vitamin packed salad to keep you satisfied and fuelled right 🥗
🥒This one was baby spinach, two pre mixed salads with beetroot, cucumber, carrot, cabbage and red onion. I added the chicken (oven baked with lemon juice, salt, pepper, chilli, garlic and tumeric) and some feta with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar 🥑 YUM!! 
🍋The easiest way to stick to a meal plan is to eat “healthy, whole foods” that you enjoy ... this way you’ll look forward to your meals and not feel like you’re being “restricted” 🙌

I was meeting up with my friend Becca from work - in 3 months she’s joined the company, we’ve become friends, played games together... but this was our first time meeting! 2020 is weird. 😅

As the weather was very sunny and I wanted to make a good first impression I had to wear this gorgeous @plumandpigeon dress that I bought recently! 😍

We had a lovely time! 😁 It filled me with so much life, and I was exhausted by the time I got home. 😂

I knew that not being able to go places and meet people was running my mental health, but yesterday showed me just how important days like this are to me. 😭❤️✨

⬆️Looking at the list above may feel overwhelming.  My suggestion -  focus on 1 aspect of detox - eliminating sugar or fast food from diet or doing a digital detox.  It's about being better, not perfect! Detoxes have helped me shift my kids & clients moods, increase concentration & kick cravings. 

✴DETOX PREP STEPS - Preparation is key!👇🏻👇🏿
✅Determine a start date & length of detox period.  3 weeks is recommended. 
✅Diet detox - remove all of the non-detox friendly foods from your home. 
✅Digital detox - have a "lock box" to put the devices in, change the Wifi password or set time limits on your devices. 
✅Grocery list - include a variety of organic fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds to have on hand. 

✴DURING DETOX
1. Drink lots of water💦 - divide weight in lbs by 1/2, that's how many ounces daily to drink 
2. Daily bowel movements💩 - 1/2 to 1 cup of leafy green veggies daily helps stay regular
3. Chill out🧘‍♀️ - practice mindfulness & gratitude with apps like Calm, Breathe for Kids, Insight timer
4. Nourish your Gut 🍲- A multi-strain probiotic feeds those good bugs to help the gut detox toxins like heavy metals, pesticides, etc. Fermented foods (yogurt, kombucha) work well too!

NASH stands for Non-Alcoholic SteatoHepatitis. It is defined as the liver manifestation of a metabolic disorder, and is the most severe form of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). NASH is closely related to the triple epidemic of obesity, pre-diabetes, and diabetes.  But its symptoms are often silent or non-specific to NASH, making it difficult to diagnose. As a result, most NASH patients remain unaware of their condition until late stages of the disease. 

Imagine this, people who are of normal weight are twice as likely to die from liver failure than overweight people, can you guess why?  Not because overweight people are healthier.  Most slim people think nothing is wrong, and don’t seek help or change, not until it’s too late. 

This is a REAL PANDEMIC - 🙏🏽

  • Hey y’all.  It’s a few days late, but I’m celebrating my tranniversary!  I started my journey of transitioning 3 years ago, as of the 4th.  I was so busy with work that I forgot to even think about it.  It’s been a wild and unpredictable ride, but I’m glad I kept going because the happiness and self-love that I’m CAPABLE of is so nice.  I say capable because I still have darkness, struggles and fear.  But the sun always comes out from behind the clouds, and so too does my happiness.  I’ll be moving forward with some more transitioning care, namely facial feminization surgery and SRS, hopefully within the next two years.  I will be posting a GoFundMe for those when it is appropriate, because I have to feel better about asking for help when so many others need it more than me.  Please go over and donate to @kensandersbooks for the meantime, it would fill my heart.  Also, fuck you Sim Gill you fascist fuck, for arresting protesters and charging them with felonies to intimidate them.  This is not going away, but you should, you utter disgrace.

  • I have many new followers and I’d like to introduce myself better for those of you who are new! 

I’m Catarina and I’m a 27 year old Portuguese-Canadian who survived having a brain tumour that caused Cushing’s disease. Many of you probably follow me because of that! 🧠 I was diagnosed at 23 and had been suffering since just before I turned 22. I progressed quickly and for the worst. 

I believe in advocacy for brain tumours and Cushing’s and that’s why I speak about my struggle with it and the struggles that came from having it. I’m still having some of my own personal issues and I’m pretty open with them. 

I love hockey, most specifically the Habs🏒. I grew up going to Montreal since I was 10 and although I wasn’t a huge fan when I was younger, I grew to love the city and the team and that’s why I enjoy the team. No, I don’t care that I live in the GTHA area - I like the team that I like, okay? 😂 

I created #CrushCushings as a separate account back in 2016 and I still have the FB page til this day. I found it to be too much to have both accounts so I have just merged Crush Cushing’s into my personal. I’m hoping to grow the movement larger as the community (unfortunately) grows. I know how scary and lonely it feels to have Cushing’s so I want to build a community around that. I also saw a lot of toxic FB groups and who needs more toxicity when Cushing’s is already trying to destroy us? 

I’m currently in the #DCOMMUNITY for phase 2 of the 6 week program! @dgym.mtl is a fantastic trainer and his beautiful girlfriend helps with the meal prep ideas. I can’t wait to see if my body will allow me to transform. This will be the true test of whether my weight is from medication or laziness or if it’s Cushing’s related again.

المكونات الجافة
 كوب ونصف (١٥٠ جم) دقيق لوز
 خمس ملاعق كبيرة سيلليوم ناعم (٤٥ جرام)
 ملعقتين صغيرتين بيكنج بودر
 نصف ملعقة صغيرة ملح البحر (يمكن زيادة الكمية لملعقة واحدة حسب الرغبة)

 المكونات الرطبة
 ملعقتين صغيرتين خل التفاح
  بياض ٣ بيضات
 كوب ماء مغلي

 الطريقة:
 ١- نسخن الفرن على ١٧٥ درجة مئوية (٣٥٠ فهرنهايت) 
 ٢- نخلط المكونات الجافة
 ٣- نضيف بياض البيض و خل التفاح ونخلط حتى نحصل على عجينة سميكة.
 ٤- نضيف الماء المغلي ونخلط جيدًا حتى يتجانس العجين ويتماسك.
 ٥- نشكلها حسب الرغبة، مثلا:
 ٦ إلى ٨ كور صغيرة
  ٤ كور كبيرة
 ٤ إلى ٥ صمونات
  ويمكن وضع العجينة بدون تقسيم 
 ٦- نضع الكور على صينية مدهونة بالزبدة.
 ٧- نضعها في الفرن لمدة ٤٥ إلى ٥٥ دقيقة (نفحص الخبز بعد ٤٠ دقيقة للتأكد من نضجه)

بالهنا والعافية ❤️

1 1/2 cup (150g) almonds flour 
5 tbsp psyllium husk powder (45g)
2 tsp baking powder 
1/2 tsp sea salt 

WET INGREDIENTS
2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar 
1 cup boiling water
3 eggs whites

Directions:
1- Preheat the oven on 175 degrees C (350 F)
2- Mix dry ingredients 
3- Add the eggs whites and ACV and mix until a thick dough.
4- Add the boiling water and mix it well until well combined and dough firms up.
5- Form into:
 6 to 8 small rolls or
 4 large rolls or 
 4 to 5 mini subs or 
 one large sub/loaf and place onto a greased baking sheet.
6- Bake for 45-55 minutes

As I near the 6 month of my sweet husband’s passing, I've been noticing a slight pressure from people to move on. Here are some actual things people have told me:

"Keep your chin up"

"You should smile”

"It's time to start thinking about moving on" 
.
Here's the deal. I'll never move on. Yes, the sun will still rise even with the pain, but I will cry for Dom until the day I die. Yes, those days are getting fewer and farther between. But I will never stop mourning him. 
.
So to all of those who have supported me, listened, sent prayers, and created space-thank you. To those who expect me to just "buck up and get on with it" I respectfully show you the door.
