  • May in the kitchen garden. The next in my series of my kitchen garden year, seeing a photo each month of how it develops from the end of winter, through the craziness of spring sowing, planting and growing, the lazy days of summer when the focus changes to harvesting, then on to autumn when there will be more sowing for over wintering vegetables and flowers in the greenhouse and polytunnel. The middle of the month saw temperatures plummet to below freezing, so nightly care was taken to fleece the potatoes, and the beans, courgette and squash plants weren't planted out until the risk of frost had passed. Now we're back up to mid 20s all week, with no rain on the horizon, so I'll need to be vigilant with watering and opening the greenhouse doors each morning. It takes a bit of thought, but once the routine is there it gets easier, my kitchen garden just becoming another dependent to add to the rest. But, we're not going anywhere for a while, and watching plants grow from seeds you have sown, and then reaping the rewards of eating fruit and vegetables grown is worth all the effort. I'll be making a big effort to save seed this year as well. According to @vital.seeds the global Covid - 19 pandemic had put an enormous strain on the seed industry, anyone interested in saving seed, go and have a look at their account and sign up to their seed saving course.

  • April in the kitchen garden. I'm taking a photo of my kitchen garden each month this year. The change from a month ago is pretty staggering. Thanks to some very warm weather the growth has been fast. Charlotte Potatoes in the foreground are shooting up, as are the garlic that were planted last autumn. We're not too far off harvesting lettuce and there are peas, sweetpeas, onions and kale all in there somewhere. The greenhouse is packed with seedlings that I'm now wondering where I will squeeze them all in, no doubt there will be some spare plants to give away or have a gate sale when I run out of room 🤦🏼‍♀️. There's quite a lot of work involved, but I enjoy the growing, tending, caring and finally harvesting and eating! I still watch @charles_dowding YouTube videos before I do anything and his no-dig method of gardening works so well for me, great soil, not too many weeds and easy to follow advice. I can't recommend him enough.

  • Hidup ini begitu singkat, jangan pernah bersikap sombong. Karena tidak ada yang layak kita sombongi. Sebagai manusia, kita hanyalah makhluk yang berasal dari tanah (bumi) dan akan kembali ke sana juga.

Dunia hanyalah tempat persinggahan. Kesenangan yang kita nikmati takkan bertahan lama. Jangan sampai kita terbuai dan menganggap dunia sebagai satu-satunya kehidupan 👍 📷 @12idwan
